Introduction to the 2nd ‘Small and Heavy Sports Day’
The Seoul Olympic Memorial National Sports Promotion Foundation recently organized the 2nd ‘Small and Heavy Sports Day’ in 2025 at the KSPO Sports Value Center. This event aimed to promote the positive values of sports by offering students opportunities for large-scale sports activities, while also focusing on balanced regional development through sports initiatives for small schools in vulnerable areas.
Event Details and Participation
The second edition of the ‘Small and Heavy Sports Day’ took place on the 21st. It was designed to bring together students from various backgrounds, especially those from smaller schools that may not have access to extensive sports programs. This year, 215 students from five elementary schools in Jinju and surrounding areas in Gyeongsangnam-do participated in the event.
Activities and Experiences
During the day, participants engaged in a variety of fun and accessible sports activities. These included obstacle running, tug-of-war, and popping games, which provided an exciting and engaging environment for the children. In addition to these main events, there were auxiliary facilities such as traditional games, face painting, and caricature drawing, which added to the overall enjoyment of the day.
Community Engagement and Support
One of the key highlights of the event was the distribution of sports products to each participating school. The Value Center aimed to ensure that students could continue enjoying sports in their daily lives, not just during the special event. This initiative reflects a commitment to fostering a culture of sports participation beyond one-day events.

An official from the Value Center expressed pride in the event’s success, stating, “I am very proud that many children are enjoying the precious sports day that started at the Value Center.” The organization also emphasized its commitment to introducing more diverse programs in the future, ensuring that everyone can enjoy sports without any exclusions.
