Farah Khan’s New Journey on YouTube
Dhaka, Nov. 6 – Renowned filmmaker and choreographer Farah Khan has shared her decision to explore YouTube content creation after a decade-long hiatus from directing films. This shift was partly driven by financial considerations and the joy of engaging in new creative endeavors.
Farah, who last directedHappy New Yearin 2014, launched her YouTube channel in April 2024. Her initial content featured casual cooking vlogs with her long-time cook, Dilip. These videos quickly gained traction, leading to nearly 3 million subscribers on YouTube and 4.5 million followers on Instagram.
In an interview on the latest episode ofTwo Much with Kajol and Twinkle, the 60-year-old filmmaker discussed how she turned to YouTube when film projects were not forthcoming. “Even when my movie wasn’t happening, I said, ‘chal (come on), let me do YouTube,’ because I could see where things were going. Also, I have three kids who are going to university next year—and that’s bloody expensive,” she explained, referring to her 17-year-old triplets, Czar, Anya, and Diva, whom she shares with filmmaker-husband Shirish Kunder.

Known for directing popular films such asMain Hoon Na,Om Shanti Om, andTees Maar Khan, Farah expressed that she finds fulfillment and purpose in continuing to work. “Your life can’t revolve around another person. Happiness has to come from within and from your work. Work gives me a lot of pleasure,” she said, adding that she hopes to remain active in her career well into her 80s.
