Introduction to Lotte Chilsung Beverage’s Voluntary Retirement Program
Lotte Chilsung Beverage, a well-established company in the beverage and alcohol industry since its founding in 1950, has recently announced its first voluntary retirement program. This initiative aims to improve business efficiency and transform the organization into a more future-oriented growth entity. The program is open to employees who were born before 1980 and joined the company prior to 2015, ensuring they have at least 10 years of service.
Details of the Voluntary Retirement Program
The application period for this voluntary retirement program will run until the 21st of the month. Employees who are interested in applying must meet specific criteria, including their birth year and length of service. A company representative emphasized that the program is strictly for those who choose to apply voluntarily. This approach allows the company to streamline operations while maintaining a motivated workforce.
Severance payments under this program will be calculated based on the employee’s tenure with the company. For those with 10–14 years of service, the payment will be equivalent to 20 months of standard salary, which includes base pay, fixed allowances, bonuses, and variable allowances. Employees with 15 or more years of service will receive 24 months of standard salary as severance. Additionally, those under the wage peak system will be eligible for 40% of their remaining months of salary as part of their severance package.
Additional Benefits for Eligible Employees
In addition to the severance payments, employees with college-age children will receive up to 10 million Korean won in tuition support per child. This financial assistance is designed to ease the burden of education costs for families. Furthermore, these employees will also be offered a separate reemployment grant of 10 million Korean won, helping them transition smoothly into new opportunities after leaving the company.
Financial Performance and Global Expansion
On the same day that the voluntary retirement program was announced, Lotte Chilsung Beverage disclosed its third-quarter results. The company reported an increase in sales by 1.3% year-on-year, reaching 1.0792 trillion Korean won. Operating profit rose significantly by 16.6% to 91.8 billion Korean won, while net profit surged by 39.3% to 62 billion Korean won.
Despite a decline in domestic beverage and alcohol sales, the company experienced strong performance driven by global growth. The global division’s third-quarter revenue reached 384.2 billion Korean won, representing a 9.5% increase compared to the previous year. Operating profit for the global division also saw a substantial rise, increasing by 44.8% to 20.7 billion Korean won.
Strategic Focus on Global Markets
The company highlighted its commitment to responding to the growing global demand for K-Food. To enhance brand recognition and competitiveness in markets such as Europe and the U.S., Lotte Chilsung Beverage plans to focus on local strategies. These efforts aim to improve accessibility for global consumers and strengthen the company’s position in international markets.
By implementing this voluntary retirement program and focusing on global expansion, Lotte Chilsung Beverage is taking proactive steps to ensure long-term success and adaptability in a rapidly changing business environment.
