Morocco’s Textile Sector Nears Market Breakthrough – El Ansari

Morocco’s Textile Industry: A New Era of Innovation and Growth

Morocco’s textile industry is undergoing a significant transformation, driven by automation, digitalization, and sustainable innovation. According to Anass El Ansari, president of the Moroccan Association of Textile and Clothing Industries (AMITH), the sector is gradually shifting towards higher value markets. This shift is marked by advancements in technology, the adoption of circular economy principles, and the development of new materials.

At the opening of the 22nd “Maroc in Mode” (MIM) show, which runs until November 7, El Ansari emphasized that the textile industry is experiencing a major change. The event, organized by AMITH in collaboration with CEMS (an international organizer of shows and congresses), is themed “Morocco, the Smart Hub for Global Textile.” This theme highlights Morocco’s growing role as a key player in the global textile landscape.

The transformation of the textile sector is supported by the vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, who has encouraged productive investment. This initiative aims to strengthen industrial sovereignty and create more skilled jobs. El Ansari noted that the Moroccan textile industry is now at a critical crossroads. While it remains an essential social driver, providing employment for youth and women, it is also becoming a technological leader.

Textile production embodies a collective ambition: to elevate Morocco as one of the most competitive regional platforms. In this context, MIM 2025 perfectly illustrates this new phase, characterized by moving upmarket, regional relocation, and productive investment. These efforts align with the national industrialization strategy, reinforcing Morocco’s position in the global textile supply chain.

The exhibition features over 200 Moroccan and foreign exhibitors from Europe, Asia, and Africa, representing nearly 100 global brands and 25 nationalities. This diversity reflects the confidence of foreign partners in Morocco’s textile ecosystem and its increasing role in regional and global value chains. El Ansari stated that the event is where industrial alliances are formed, sustainable models are developed, and future supply chains are shaped.

AMITH remains committed to supporting the modernization of businesses, promoting investment and upscale development, strengthening training and skills development, and positioning Moroccan textiles as a symbol of quality, proximity, and sustainability. The association plays a vital role in ensuring that the industry continues to evolve and meet global standards.

Placed under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, MIM 2025 aims to be a major event for the future of the Moroccan textile industry. It showcases national expertise and serves as a springboard for new international collaborations. The exhibition not only highlights the progress of the sector but also reinforces Morocco’s commitment to innovation and sustainability.
