Nairobi Darts Masters Set to Attract 96 Players
A field of 96 players is set for the Nairobi Darts Masters, an event organised by the Sirua Darts Group. The tournament will take place on December 5–6 at the Broadwalk Mall Ballroom. This two-day competition will feature four distinct categories: the Masters, Ladies, Junior, and University competitions.
The tournament offers a prize purse of Sh1.3 million, with the Masters champion earning Sh260,000. The Ladies’ winner will receive Sh50,000, while the Junior victor takes home Sh20,000. These rewards reflect the growing interest in darts across Kenya and the region.
Qualifications and Participation Breakdown
Sirua Darts Group director Dan Karori mentioned that 32 players have already qualified for the Masters event. Out of the total 96 participants, 64 slots are reserved for Kenyan players. In addition, 16 international slots have been allocated to players from South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Uganda, Tanzania, and Switzerland. This move is expected to elevate the level of competition and bring a global perspective to the event.
Karori noted that the participation of international players is a significant step forward for the sport in Kenya. “We have a good number of 16 foreigners participating,” he said, highlighting the potential for cross-border rivalry and skill exchange.
Key Players to Watch
Among the Kenyan stars to watch are David Munyua, the nation’s top-ranked player, alongside Manpreet Kalsi and Aryan Khalsa. These athletes are expected to be strong contenders in their respective categories.
In the Ladies’ event, 48 players are competing, with only 10 seeded. This leaves 38 slots open for competitors from neighbouring countries. The Junior (U-15) category has 15 seeded players and 17 open slots for visiting talent. The University competition currently has 40 registered players, with a cap of 48.
Future Plans and Growth
Karori revealed that the Sirua Darts Group plans to launch a University Darts Challenge Cup next year. The initiative aims to target a 256-player entry list, which would significantly strengthen grassroots competition. “It will be an exciting showcase to see who lifts the Nairobi Darts Masters trophy,” he said.
The Kenya Darts Association chairman, Wilson Githae, expressed optimism about the future of the sport in Kenya. “Darts is one of the biggest sports in the world, and stakeholders here are working hard to emulate the success of past players. With professionals now competing abroad, the future of Kenyan darts looks bright.”
Live Streaming and Media Partnerships
All matches will be streamed live on the Sirua Darts Group YouTube channel, making the event accessible to a wider audience. Organisers have also expressed openness to media partnerships, further enhancing the visibility of the tournament.

The Nairobi Darts Masters represents a significant milestone for the sport in Kenya. With a diverse participant pool, substantial prize money, and a focus on developing local talent, the event is poised to make a lasting impact.
