People’s Bus and EV Taxi Cameras Linked to Safe City Network

Enhancing Urban Security and Public Transport

In a significant move aimed at improving urban security, the Sindh government has announced plans to integrate the indoor and outdoor cameras of the People’s Bus Service and EV Taxi Service with the Safe City Network. This initiative is part of broader efforts to leverage modern technology for better public safety and efficient traffic management in major cities like Karachi.

Sharjeel Inam Memon, the Senior Minister and Minister for Information, Transport, and Mass Transit in Sindh, highlighted that this integration will not only make the public transport system safer but also enhance overall urban security. He emphasized that once the cameras are connected, monitoring, traffic control, and public safety measures will see substantial improvements.

Memon also mentioned that the Sindh government is actively working towards launching the modern EV Taxi Service by December. The service aims to provide citizens with affordable, safe, and environmentally friendly travel options. This initiative is expected to attract strong investor interest and offer a modern alternative to traditional transportation methods.

A delegation of investors recently met with the senior minister in Karachi to discuss the project. The meeting was attended by key officials, including Transport Secretary Asad Zamin, Sindh Mass Transit Authority Managing Director Kanwal Nizam Bhutto, and others. During the discussions, the investors shared proposals on the project’s structure, the establishment of charging stations, and various operating models.

At the meeting, Memon reiterated the urgent need for a modern transport system in a city as large as Karachi. He stated that the government is committed to launching the EV Taxi Service by December, ensuring comfortable and safe travel at low fares. The service will initially be launched in Karachi and later expanded to other major cities.

One of the key features of the EV Taxi Service is the introduction of a Pink EV Taxi Service exclusively for women. This initiative aims to ensure safe and comfortable travel for female passengers, addressing specific safety concerns within the community.

The EV Taxi Service will be equipped with advanced Intelligent Transport System (ITS) and monitoring technology. These technologies will help maintain efficiency, transparency, and safety, while also connecting the service to the Safe City Network. This integration will allow for real-time monitoring and quicker response times in case of emergencies.

Memon also stressed the importance of partnerships with the private sector in promoting sustainable transport and environmental improvement. He noted that the EV Taxi Project will not only enhance public convenience but also contribute to the province’s economic development.

Investor Collaboration and Future Goals
