A Candid Interview with the U.S. Ambassador to Greece
Kimberly Guilfoyle, the newly appointed U.S. Ambassador to Greece, recently shared candid insights into her personal life during an interview on Greek television. The conversation, which took place on ANT1, provided a glimpse into her relationships and experiences that have shaped her journey.
Guilfoyle, 56, spoke about her ex-husbands, California Governor Gavin Newsom and Eric Villency, both of whom she described as having strong ties to her life. She emphasized that she maintains a “very good relationship” with Newsom and a “wonderful relationship” with Villency, who is the father of her son Ronan.
“I’ve had 20 years of friendship with him,” she said, highlighting the lasting bond between them. She also expressed her loyalty and commitment, stating, “What people need to understand about me is that I don’t give up. I will stay with you, I will be loyal. I will always be here — you can count on me. And I am proud of that.”
The interview came just days after she humorously mentioned having a “fabulous honeymoon” in Greece with Newsom during a meeting with Greek President Konstantinos Tasoula. However, she seemed to avoid discussing her previous relationship with Donald Trump Jr., whom she dated for six years. Instead, she focused on her current role and the plans to strengthen U.S.-Greece relations.

Guilfoyle’s interview with Maria Sarafoglou aired late Thursday evening, with the Acropolis visible in the background. She shared intimate details about her personal life, revealing how comfortable she has become discussing her love life since moving to Greece.
During her first meeting with Tasoula on November 4, the president asked if she had ever traveled to Greece before. Guilfoyle responded that she had, noting that she covered the 2004 Olympic Games for ABC News. She then added with a grin, “I also had a honeymoon here in 2004. Fabulous honeymoon but…”
Tasoulas chimed in with a laugh: “Honeymoon was fabulous, but the marriage?”
“We’ll work on getting a new husband,” Guilfoyle replied with nervous laughter.
She went on to reminisce about her travels across Greece, mentioning Athens, Hydra, Corfu, Mykonos, and Santorini as some of her favorite destinations.

In the interview, she revisited her past relationships, this time stating that her relationship with her ex was relatively positive. She also shared the impact of another man in her life, recounting the advice she received from her father following the death of her mother.
“When I lost my mother at the age of 10, my father told me: ‘Kimberly, you must be strong. You have talent, abilities, and nothing worse can happen to you in life than losing your mother. Be strong, endure.’ He always said: ‘Whatever boys can do, you can do better.’ I believed him. He was my father.”
She urged women to follow this advice, encouraging them to “fight for what they believe in,” “blaze new trails,” and “don’t be afraid to take risks.” “If I can do it, then all women can,” she said, emphasizing that success comes from hard work, dedication, and self-belief.
Guilfoyle highlighted her professional achievements, including her transition from being a prosecutor “fighting for justice” to a TV host and now a foreign ambassador.

Her appointment was confirmed by the Senate in September, and she is now residing in Greece. In the interview, she mentioned that the two nations have already “achieved so much in just a few days” and that the U.S. looks forward to further strengthening the relationship.
She explained that President Trump chose her for the role because they both want Greece to become an “energy hub.” “We want to demonstrate that Greece can become the energy hub that will help us counter Russian and Chinese interests,” she said. “What we are seeking is energy independence, which will strengthen national defense and national security.”
