Three Men Held Over Lagos Deaths

Court Orders Remand of Three Men in Connection with Murders in Mushin

A Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja has ordered the remand of three men, Wasiu Akinwande, alias Olori Eso; Qudus Egbere, and Sola Tomiwa, for their alleged involvement in the murder of two men during a violent attack in Mushin, Lagos. The court’s decision was made by Justice Oyindamola Ogala on Monday.

The defendants were arraigned on a five-count charge that includes conspiracy to commit murder, murder, and membership of an unlawful society. This charge was filed by the Lagos State Government against them. During the arraignment, the state prosecutor, A. O. Azeez, informed the court that an amended charge had been submitted earlier that morning. The defendants’ counsel, Olanrewaju Ajanaku and M. D. Obadeyi, also appeared before the court.

Azeez stated that the defendants and others still at large allegedly conspired to kill two individuals identified as Bolanle Yusuf and Yusuf Ramadan. According to the prosecutor, the incident occurred on July 31, 2024, around 11:00 am at Moshalashi Street in the Mushin area of Lagos. The victims were attacked with machetes and a gun, leading to their deaths. Additionally, it was alleged that Qudus Egbere and Sola Tomiwa belong to an unlawful society known as the Eiye Confraternity.

The charges brought against the defendants contravene several sections of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, including Sections 223, 233, and 411, as well as Section 2(3)(a) of the Unlawful Societies and Cultism (Prohibition) Law of Lagos State, 2021.

All three defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges. However, counsel for the second defendant made an oral application for his client to continue on administrative bail, which was refused by Justice Ogala. The judge directed that a formal bail application be filed instead.

Following the plea, the prosecution requested a trial date. Justice Ogala adjourned the case until January 19, 2026, for the commencement of the trial and ordered that the defendants remain in custody pending further proceedings.

Background on Wasiu Akinwande (Olori Eso)

Wasiu Akinwande, also known as Olori Eso, was first remanded by the Ogba Magistrate Court on August 5, 2025, by Magistrate Mobolaji Tanimola, in the Kirikiri Correctional Centre, over allegations of multiple murders.
