A Teenage Mother’s Journey

Still in her teenage years, Celestine found herself transitioning from a child to a mother. At just sixteen, she gave birth to her first child, a little girl whom she lovingly called “My baby.” This sudden shift in her life marked the beginning of a new chapter, one that mirrored the path her own mother had taken before her.

Her peers, however, were not quick to accept this change. They questioned her, asking, “Here’s your father. Where is your baby’s father?” To them, Celestine was still a child, and they expected an answer. But she stood firm, responding, “She’s my baby, no questions further!” Her determination was clear, but the challenges ahead would test her strength in ways she could not yet imagine.

A New Path

To help Celestine move forward, her parents decided to place her in an apprenticeship. This opportunity focused on hair braiding, perming, drying, and curling. It also included services like manicures and pedicures, aiming to mold her into someone who could support herself and grow in a positive direction. The goal was to bring her back to a healthy and stable mode of living, preparing her for a future where she could make her own choices.

But despite the supportive environment, Celestine struggled. Her relationships began to take precedence over her work. She became well-versed in the art of deception, learning when to lie, when to fake the truth, and when to twist the facts to sound more convincing. However, beneath the surface, she was not well. One visit to the hospital revealed the truth—she was highly infected with a virus. The news hit her hard, but she kept it hidden, unsure of whom she could trust.

Facing the Truth

Celestine received treatment, including anti-retroviral medication, which helped manage her condition. Yet, the emotional toll was immense. As she hoped for a way to reduce the virus in her system, marriage proposals began to flood in. She felt conflicted, knowing that any relationship could put others at risk. She chose to remain single, unwilling to endanger anyone else.

However, one proposal stood out. It came from her parents, who believed it was the right choice for her. When she lowered her guard and accepted, her parents were overjoyed. They saw a future filled with grandchildren and a stable family life. But Celestine’s new groom was cautious. He insisted on thorough tests to ensure he was ready to be a proper husband and to confirm her health.

A Tragic Decision

On the day of the test, Celestine was not prepared. She made a tragic decision, putting a rope around her neck and leaving the rest of her body hanging. Before her final act, she left a handwritten note on a door knob, stating, “I am a hive of a Highly Infectious Venom.”
