Community Support for Sports and Education

Assin Kyekyewere (C/R), Nov 10, GNA – Mr. Jonathan Birikorang, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Assin South, has made a significant contribution to the local educational community by donating sports equipment to the Educational Directorate. This donation is aimed at supporting the upcoming inter-circuit sports competition, which is scheduled to take place on Monday, November 17, 2025.
The donated items include 10 footballs, whistles, and football pumps, all of which are essential for the smooth running of the event. In addition to the sports equipment, the DCE also arranged for the distribution of 20 bags of sachet water and soft drinks to all the circuits involved in the competition. This gesture ensures that participants and spectators alike will have access to necessary supplies during the event.
Mr. Birikorang emphasized his unwavering support for sports and games, as well as other educational programs in the district. He expressed confidence in the ability of the local community to make the most of the resources provided. His message was clear: the success of the competition depends not only on the availability of equipment but also on the proper management and care of these resources.
He addressed the district sports committee, led by the district sports coordinator, Mr. Joseph Kponyoryor, urging them to take full responsibility for the equipment. The DCE stressed that the goal is to ensure that all participants benefit from the resources provided, and that the equipment should be used in a manner that promotes fairness and inclusivity.
In addition to his remarks on the equipment, Mr. Birikorang called for discipline and sportsmanship among the organizers and participants of the competition. He encouraged everyone involved to uphold the values of fair play both on and off the field. Mr. Isaac Opoku Inkoom, the District Education Director, who received the sports equipment, expressed deep gratitude to the DCE for his generous support. Mr. Inkoom also urged the organizers of the competition to handle the equipment with care, ensuring that it remains available for future use and benefits others in the community.
