A Manhunt for a Suspected Killer in Ghana
The Ghana Police Service has launched a manhunt for Mark Agingre, a resident of Binduri in the Upper East Region, who is suspected of being involved in a series of brutal murders. The police have issued a GH₵1 million reward for anyone who can provide credible information leading to his arrest.
Agingre is believed to be the main suspect in the murder of a man, his wife, and three children on Friday, November 7, 2025. The attack also left another child in critical condition at the Bolganga Government Hospital. He is also suspected of involvement in the killing of an elderly man and his two children on October 27, 2025, in Binduri. Preliminary investigations suggest that he may be responsible for several other targeted killings in the area.
Residents are urged to report any information about Agingre’s whereabouts to the nearest police station or by calling 191 or 18555. The Ghana Police Service has assured the public that it is making every effort to track down the suspect and bring him to justice.
Political Response to the Tragedy
Member of Parliament (MP) for Nalerigu/Gambaga, Nurideen Mohammed Mununi, has called for a swift and thorough investigation into the Binduri shooting that claimed the lives of five people, including women and children. Speaking during an interview on Channel One News on Saturday, November 8, the MP, who sits on Parliament’s Interior and Defence Committee, expressed deep concern over the incident and strongly condemned it.
“The Interior Minister is doing his best, but the issue is overwhelming. They often set up investigations, but after that, we need to see concrete outcomes. When investigations are done and these criminals are identified, they must be prosecuted and made to face the law. I believe if that is done, some of these incidents will stop,” he stated.
He further urged security agencies to go beyond routine investigations and strengthen intelligence operations in conflict-prone areas of the Upper East Region to prevent future attacks. He emphasized that ensuring justice for victims and holding perpetrators accountable would serve as a deterrent to others.
Details of the Recent Attack
The call follows the tragic shooting of five people by unknown gunmen during curfew hours at Tengmasug, a suburb of the Binduri District, on Thursday, November 7, 2025. Police reports indicate that the assailants attacked a household around 7:15 p.m., opening fire on occupants indoors at the time.
Five people were killed instantly, while one person sustained gunshot wounds and is receiving treatment. The attackers also shot and killed two bullocks belonging to the family before fleeing the scene.
Police in the Upper East Region have confirmed the incident and assured the public that investigations are ongoing to apprehend those responsible.
Criticism of Security Agencies
Meanwhile, the Assembly Member for the area, Anaba Joseph, described the attack as devastating and criticized security agencies for lapses in monitoring, despite prior intelligence indicating increasing tensions in the community.
Ongoing Investigations
The police have confirmed the incident and are working diligently to identify and apprehend those responsible. The community remains on high alert, with residents urging authorities to take immediate action to prevent further violence.
As the investigation continues, the hope is that the swift identification and prosecution of the perpetrators will bring a sense of justice and safety back to the region. The tragedy has sparked a renewed call for stronger security measures and more effective collaboration between local authorities and the communities they serve.
