Lucid Fall’s ‘Elsewhere’ Unites Worlds Through Global Sound

Singer-songwriter Lucid Fall has made a triumphant return after three years with his 11th regular album, “Elsewhere.” This latest project reflects his desire to connect through music in an era marked by division and hatred, aiming to foster a better world. The album was released on the 7th, and on that day, Lucid Fall met with reporters at Antenna’s headquarters in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. He shared his mixed emotions, stating, “I’m afraid because I can’t predict how others will receive the new album, but I also feel hopeful that my songs might reach someone and connect us.”

Now in his 28th year since his debut, Lucid Fall has consistently released regular albums every 2–3 years—a challenging feat in today’s music market dominated by idol groups and digital singles. He credited Antenna’s full support and CEO You Hee-yul’s unwavering trust as the driving force behind his regular album releases. “From an economic perspective, one might suggest splitting the album into four singles,” he said, “but Antenna still views music differently. This is possible only because You Hee-yul is at the center.”

He added, “For me, an album is a record and a footprint of my journey as a musician. Over the past 2–3 years, there was so much I wanted to show and share that couldn’t be contained in singles.”

The title track,‘A Person Who Became a Flower’, is a simple love song that anyone can easily relate to and enjoy. It was chosen by a vote among Antenna employees. Lucid Fall explained, “I think the title track should be the song that most people will like.” He continued, “There were times when I wanted to highlight a standout track as the title, but that holds no meaning for the public. People don’t analyze music—they just enjoy it if they like it.” He sought opinions from employees of various age groups, and‘A Person Who Became a Flower’won 32 out of 40 votes, securing its place as the title track.

Lucid Fall described having three “universes”: the first is the universe of “self,” the second is the universe of people directly connected to him, and the third is the universe of those indirectly connected. “These days, we pour too much energy into the second universe,” he said. “We feel exhausted chasing dopamine through social media and YouTube.” He added, “I wanted to share energy with the third universe—events in Cambodia, Palestine, and Ukraine aren’t unrelated to us.”

To this end, the album features collaborations with a Spanish guitarist, an Argentine jazz musician, a Brazilian singer-songwriter, and a Spanish singer. “I wanted to connect musically with people living in different places,” Lucid Fall said. “Hatred and exclusion don’t help the world. Though small, I hope creating music with artists from around the globe can lead us to a slightly better place together.”

Lucid Fall’s regular album “Elsewhere” will be released on various music platforms at 6 p.m. on the 7th. It carries a message of hope and solidarity, encouraging those who have reached “Elsewhere” by holding onto hope even in despair.
