Cyclist Killed in Accident on East-West Highway
A tragic incident occurred on Sunday morning along the East-West Highway in Tanakpur, Ghodaghodi Municipality-2, resulting in the death of a cyclist. The accident took place in the Sukhad Area, where a 55-year-old cyclist, Shankar Dagoura, lost his life after being struck by a jeep.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Ramesh Awasthi, Chief of the Sukhad Area Police Office, confirmed the details of the incident. According to Awasthi, Dagoura, who hailed from Bardagoria Rural Municipality-6 in Kota Tulsipur, was critically injured in the collision and was immediately taken to Ghodaghodi Hospital for medical attention. Despite the efforts of the medical staff, Dagoura was declared dead at the hospital.
In addition to Dagoura, three other pedestrians were also injured in the accident. Their identities have been disclosed by the police, and they are currently receiving treatment at Ghodaghodi Hospital. Among the injured are:
- Padam Bahadur Shahi, 54, from Sadepani, Ghodaghodi-2
- Harka Bahadur Dagoura, 45, from Bardagoria Rural Municipality-6, Kota Tulsipur
- Krishna Dagoura, 25, from Bardagoria-6
Of these, Padam Bahadur Shahi has been referred to Dhangadhi for further medical care due to the severity of his injuries.
The police have taken control of the jeep involved in the accident and its driver, 23-year-old Santosh Ghartimagar, who is a resident of Triveni Rural Municipality-4, Rolpa. Authorities are conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision.
