Kenyan Woman in US Donates KSh 20k to Cancer Patient in Tribute to Betty Bayo

A Tribute to Betty Bayo and the Fight Against Cancer

Wairimu Kimani, the founder of the Goatwives Movement, has made a heartfelt decision to honor the late musician Betty Bayo by supporting cancer patients. This initiative comes as a response to the tragic passing of Betty, who lost her battle with leukemia. Wairimu, who resides in Seattle, Washington, was deeply affected by the news and felt compelled to take action.

The Tragic Passing of Betty Bayo

Betty passed away at Kenyatta National Hospital after a brief struggle with Stage Four leukaemia. Her family revealed that despite the doctors’ best efforts, she could not overcome the illness. When her loved ones left the hospital at 11 pm the previous evening, they had hoped for a positive turn, but unfortunately, Betty did not survive.

The news of her death came as a shock to many, as her condition was not widely known. Family and friends from Kenya and around the world were deeply saddened and have shown their support in various ways. According to her friend Shiro Wa GP, daily meetings have already begun at her home in Eldeville and at the Blue Springs Hotel on Thika Road.

A Heartfelt Donation

Wairimu Kimani, who organizes annual gatherings for women in Kenya, has announced her intention to honor Betty by donating KSh 20,000 to a deserving cancer patient in Kenya. She shared her plans publicly, stating:

“In honour of Betty Bayo, I would like to donate ‘tupesa kidogo’ to a cancer warrior follower—20,000,” said Wairimu. “I will add another 10,000 to go to Monicah as I celebrate good health and pray that her daughter, too, will one day celebrate.”

She further encouraged those interested to submit their M-Pesa details to her personal assistant, Waringa Mwangi, at 0799 297296.

Who Will Benefit?

When Kenyans learned about Wairimu’s generous offer, they began sharing the names of cancer patients who could benefit from the donation. Many saw this as a timely gesture and urged others to contribute to more cancer patients.

Cancer treatment in Kenya is notoriously expensive, and many patients are forced to stop treatment midway or never start it due to financial constraints. In addition to medical costs, there are expenses for diet, medications, and other therapies essential for recovery. The KSh 20,000 will provide much-needed support for those in need.

Many are also calling on the government to reduce the cost of cancer treatment and make it more accessible to all.

Betty’s Last Message

In another touching moment, Betty shared a powerful scripture before her passing. Alongside the message, she posted a beautiful photo that resonated with many. Her Facebook post quickly became flooded with emotional tributes from fans and followers mourning her death.

Her final message left a lasting impact on those who knew her and those who admired her work. It serves as a reminder of her strength and the legacy she leaves behind.

The Impact of Community Support

Wairimu’s initiative highlights the importance of community support in the fight against cancer. By helping one individual, she is inspiring others to come forward and contribute to the cause. This act of kindness not only honors Betty Bayo but also brings attention to the challenges faced by cancer patients in Kenya.

As more people join the effort, the hope is that this movement will lead to long-term changes in how cancer care is approached and funded in the country. The story of Betty Bayo and the actions of Wairimu Kimani serve as a powerful example of how compassion and solidarity can make a difference.
