Nairobi Mother in Turmoil as Son Vanishes on Way to School: “He Was Under Stress”

A Mother’s Desperate Plea for Her Missing Son

A 16-year-old student from Zimmerman in Nairobi has gone missing, sending shockwaves through the community and prompting an urgent search for the young man. Alpha Simiyu, who is currently preparing for his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examination (KCSE), was last seen on Tuesday, November 11, as he left home for school but never arrived at his destination.

Alpha’s mother, Rose Manyali, shared her heart-wrenching story with a local news outlet. She revealed that her son had been acting differently in recent days, showing signs of stress and emotional turmoil. However, she did not initially think much of it, believing it to be a normal phase of adolescence.

Manyali described how Alpha had left home early that morning, dressed in his school uniform and ready for the day. He was attending Garden Estate Secondary School, where his teachers noticed his absence and reached out to her. “I don’t know where he went. He was fine when he woke up this morning, dressed for school, and studies at Garden Estate Secondary School. His teachers noticed he hadn’t arrived and alerted me. I just want him to come home,” she said, her voice breaking with emotion.

The mother expressed deep concern about her son’s well-being, especially since he was in the final stages of his KCSE exams. “I don’t understand what’s happening,” she added, tears streaming down her face. “He has been having issues. I’m a single mother, and he kept talking about giving up and lacking motivation. I never thought he would disappear.”

Despite the uncertainty, Manyali remains hopeful that her son will return soon. She has been actively searching the area, including Roysambu, but has yet to find any trace of him. She also mentioned that Alpha did not inform his friends or anyone else about his whereabouts, which has made the search even more challenging.

Manyali has been in contact with Alpha’s teachers, who have pledged to support him in any way they can. “The teachers have promised to help him catch up on the exams he’s missed, even if it means sitting them directly at the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) offices,” she said.

While the mother is determined to find her son, she has also urged the public to come forward with any information that might lead to his safe return. “I couldn’t blame anyone for my son’s disappearance, but I’m certain that something was bothering him,” she said.

She has provided her contact number, 0706838233, for anyone with information about Alpha’s whereabouts. Additionally, Alpha’s teacher can be reached at 0703503414 or 0721278805.
