Nsumia Church Hosts Vibrant Children’s Day Event

Celebrating Children’s Day with Faith and Purpose

The Children’s Ministry of the Nsumia Church of Christ recently celebrated this year’s Children’s Day with a focus on spiritual growth and devotion. The event, held in the Nsawam-Addoagyiri Municipality, centered around the theme “Keep Watching Yourself and the Teachings of Christ.” This theme was drawn from 1 Timothy 4:16, which states, “Keep watching yourself and the teachings. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourselves and those who hear you” (New King James Version).

The celebration provided an opportunity for children to actively participate in the church’s activities, showcasing their talents and deepening their understanding of Christian teachings. The program included a variety of engaging activities designed to inspire and educate.

A Variety of Activities

Some of the highlights of the event included:

  • Bible recitations – where children demonstrated their knowledge of scripture
  • Song ministrations – allowing young voices to uplift the congregation through music
  • Demonstrations of the Twelve Disciples – helping children learn about the key figures in early Christianity
  • Biblical poetry recitals – combining faith with creativity
  • Plays based on the Book of Esther and the Ten Commandments – bringing biblical stories to life through performance

These activities not only entertained but also served as valuable learning experiences for the children, reinforcing the importance of faith and moral values.

Encouragement from the Preacher

Evangelist Edward Boakye, the Preacher of the Nsumia Church of Christ, addressed the children during the event. He urged them to study the Bible diligently and apply its teachings in their daily lives. According to him, the Bible contains essential lessons and principles that can guide young people toward successful and godly lives.

He encouraged the children to:

  • Obey their parents
  • Take their studies seriously
  • Avoid behaviors that could negatively impact their education

His words were intended to help the children grow in faith and responsibility, preparing them for future challenges.

Insights from a Teacher

Mrs. Naomi Habia, one of the Children’s Teachers, shared her perspective on the event. She explained that the program was organized to give children a platform to showcase their talents and deepen their understanding of Christian teachings and doctrines. Additionally, she emphasized that the event aimed to prepare the children for future leadership roles within the church.

This approach reflects a commitment to nurturing the next generation of church leaders, ensuring that they are well-equipped to serve their community.

Voices from the Children

Several children who participated in the event spoke to The Ghanaian Times, expressing their appreciation for the Children’s Day celebration. They highlighted how the event helped them build confidence and develop their gifts while serving God. Their positive feedback underscores the value of such programs in fostering spiritual growth and personal development.
