The Life and Legacy of Betty Bayo
Betty Bayo, born Beatrice Wairimu Mbugua, was a celebrated Kenyan gospel artist who gained widespread recognition for her powerful and inspiring music. Her hit song “Eleventh Hour” became a defining moment in her career, resonating with audiences across the nation due to its message of hope, endurance, and faith in God’s timing.

A Tragic Passing
The mother of two had been battling advanced-stage leukaemia privately for some time. She frequently visited hospitals for treatment before ultimately passing away while receiving care at Kenyatta National Hospital on November 10, 2025. Her death sent shockwaves through the country, as tributes poured in from fellow musicians, fans, church leaders, and friends who remembered her as a warm and cheerful individual.
An Entrepreneurial Journey
While Betty Bayo is most widely known for her contributions to the music industry, she also made a name for herself as an entrepreneur. She was deeply involved in Kenya’s real estate and property sector, working as a brand ambassador for several companies in the field. In 2022, she took a bold step by launching her own company, marking a significant shift in her professional journey.
She announced the launch of her business on Instagram, expressing gratitude to God and emphasizing the role of hard work and resilience. “By the grace of God, hard work plus resilience has earned me the CEO position of @dabob_landing. A company that deals with the selling of land and property. You all know I have been marketing for other companies in the same field for more than 7 years, and as a result, I have gathered immense experience. My records of achievements in fulfilling my promise to my clients are unmatched, and that will not change. Roll with me for a ‘road test,’” she wrote three years ago.
Her company, Dobo B Landing, has continued to thrive since its inception. In 2024, Bayo shared news that the company had moved to new offices, showcasing its growth and success.
The name of the company is derived from her two names—Betty Bayo—which both start with the letter “B,” hence the use of double “b.”
Beyond Real Estate: A Passion for Farming
In addition to her ventures in real estate, Betty Bayo had a deep interest in farming. When the short rainy season began in late October 2025, she shared a photo on social media showing seedlings in a car, dressed in gumboots, indicating her readiness for planting.
She often shared lighthearted moments on social media, including a humorous post about her past gardening mishaps. “I once killed a plant by overwatering it, and that’s when I realized—even good intentions can be harmful when overdone,” she joked, reflecting her ability to find humor even in everyday challenges.
A Lasting Impact
Betty Bayo’s life was marked by her multifaceted talents and contributions. From her music to her entrepreneurial endeavors and passion for farming, she touched many lives in various ways. Her legacy continues to inspire those who knew her and those who admired her work. As the nation mourns her passing, her memory remains alive through the countless stories and messages of appreciation shared by her fans and loved ones.
