Addressing Football Discipline in the Bono Region
Dr. Charles Osei Anto, Chairman of the Bono Regional Football Association (RFA), has called for strict discipline among club owners and managers. His remarks came during the association’s Ordinary Session of Congress for the 2025/26 football season, held in Sunyani. The event focused on addressing key issues within the regional football landscape.
The congress, themed “Fixing the Fundamentals – Empowering Our Grassroots,” brought together a wide range of stakeholders. Managers from Second Division clubs across 11 zones in the Bono Region were present, along with representatives from 93 clubs, the women’s league, colts’ clubs, the referees’ association, sports writers, and the retired footballers’ association.
Dr. Anto emphasized that the region would not tolerate football hooliganism. He urged all clubs to comply fully with the regulations governing football activities. This call for compliance is part of broader efforts to ensure that football in the region is conducted in a fair, safe, and professional manner.
Key Issues Discussed at the Congress
During the session, several critical topics were addressed:
- Discipline and Regulation: Dr. Anto warned that clubs engaging in indiscipline or lawlessness would face consequences. He stressed the importance of maintaining order both on and off the pitch.
- Cooperation Among Stakeholders: The chairman called for full cooperation from club managers and other stakeholders to promote football development in the region. This includes working together to improve infrastructure, training, and youth engagement.
- Financial Transparency: The RFA’s annual report and audited accounts were presented, read, and accepted by attendees. This step is crucial for ensuring accountability and transparency in the management of football-related finances.
The Role of the RFA in Regional Development
