MTN Foundation Unveils 2025 Scholarship Scheme

The MTN Foundation has launched its 2025 Scholarship Scheme, offering annual scholarships worth N300,000 to 368 students. This initiative aims to support and recognize academic excellence among Nigerian students.

Eligibility and Beneficiaries

The scholarship recipients include exceptionally high scorers in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, visually impaired candidates, and other outstanding scholars across various Nigerian tertiary institutions. The program is designed to ensure that talented individuals from all backgrounds have access to quality education.

Ceremony and Key Messages

The 2025 Scholarship Award and Alumni Induction Ceremony took place at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja. During the event, the Executive Director of the MTN Foundation, Odunayo Sanya, emphasized the importance of recognizing and rewarding academic excellence.

Sanya stated, “Our scholarship programme celebrates excellence, resilience, and purpose. At MTN Foundation, we recognize that talent exists everywhere, and through our continued investment in education, we are ensuring that no brilliant mind is left behind.”

She also urged the beneficiaries to maintain high academic standards to retain their scholarships. “Every scholar represents our belief in the power of knowledge to transform lives and communities. We encourage all students to continue to work hard to sustain the scholarship, so the Foundation doesn’t drop you if your CGPA drops,” she added.

Alumni Network and Career Opportunities

In addition to the scholarships, the Foundation inducted the new set of awardees into its alumni network. This network is designed to connect scholars with career and mentorship opportunities, providing them with a platform to grow and contribute to society.

Representing the newly inducted scholars, Olatunji Aishat expressed her gratitude to the Foundation for creating opportunities that extend beyond financial aid. “This scholarship is more than just funding; it’s a platform that inspires us to strive for excellence and contribute meaningfully to society,” she said.

Support from Government Officials

Government officials also praised the MTN Foundation for its consistent support for education. Johnson Bareiye, the Director of E-Governance at the Federal Ministry of Communication, Innovation and Digital Economy, commended the Foundation for its meaningful investments in the future of Nigeria.

Bareiye noted, “Today’s ceremony stands as a reminder of what is possible when the private sector invests meaningfully in the future of our nation. As a ministry, we recognize education and digital skills as the foundation of our nation’s digital transformation journey, and we commend the MTN Foundation for its sustained commitment to empowering students and strengthening human capital development in Nigeria.”

Brigadier General Olakunle Oluseye Nafiu, represented by Delphina Eze, Deputy Director, Entrepreneurship Development, applauded the Foundation’s contribution to national development.
