Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Pledges Support for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has emphasized the federal government’s commitment to supporting the provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) in maintaining peace and eradicating terrorism from the province. During a public gathering in district Chitral on Friday, he expressed his congratulations to KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi on his recent election and assured him of full cooperation in addressing security challenges and promoting stability.
“I hope he will accept my offer and together we will work for the development and prosperity of the country,” the Prime Minister stated during his address.
Comprehensive Development Package for Chitral
As part of his vision for regional development, the Prime Minister announced a comprehensive development package aimed at improving infrastructure in key sectors such as education, health, and energy. The initiatives include:
- Construction of a hospital in Upper Chitral.
- Establishment of a modern hospital and a university by the federal government.
- Completion of major highways, including the Chitral-Mastung-Shandur Road.
- Completion of access to the Lower Tunnel.
The Prime Minister also highlighted the importance of addressing electricity tariffs in the area and ensuring that students from Chitral benefit from the federal Laptop Scheme.
Education and Infrastructure Projects
Shehbaz Sharif praised the efforts of the armed forces under the leadership of Field Marshal Asim Munir, acknowledging their role in countering India’s attempts to destabilize the region. He also paid tribute to the Pakistan Air Force and Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Babar Sidhu for safeguarding the country’s aerial frontiers.
In another significant move, the Prime Minister inaugurated the Danish School System in Chitral. The school is spread over 148-kanal land and features state-of-the-art facilities, with separate campuses for male and female students. The initiative is part of the Prime Minister’s broader vision to provide quality education and modern infrastructure to remote areas, including Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Chitral.
He emphasized that the school would offer free-of-cost education along with boarding and lodging facilities to deserving students.
Recognition of Chitral’s Beauty and Contribution
Chitral was described by the Prime Minister as one of the most beautiful regions of KP. He praised the bravery and patriotism of its people, noting that their contributions to national development would always be remembered. He also acknowledged the efforts of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who had focused on the development of Chitral.
Government Officials Applaud Leadership
Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan, and SAFRON, Engr. Amir Muqam, commended the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, stating that the country’s economy was stabilizing under his guidance. He highlighted Pakistan’s achievements on both diplomatic and defense fronts.
Amir Muqam, who is also Provincial President of PML-N KP, recalled that former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had allocated special funds for the development of Lowari Top.
