More Arase in Police, He Died Too Soon

A Life of Service and Excellence

Dr. Solomon Ehigiator Arase, a former Inspector of Police, was born over six decades ago in Sabongidda-Ora. His life was marked by remarkable achievements and a deep commitment to service. He attended the renowned Holy Trinity Grammar School in Sabongidda-Ora, where he excelled academically and was even the goalkeeper for the school’s football team. His early talent and dedication were evident from a young age.

His academic journey took him to Zaria, where his uncle, Professor Williams, helped him enroll at the University of Abuja (ABU). Later, he pursued higher education at the University of Benin, where he studied Law. He further earned his MA and Ph.D in Law from Ambrose Alli University in Ekpoma. Dr. Arase was not only an exceptional scholar but also a man of profound wisdom, often compared to King Solomon in the Bible for his insight and judgment.

A Distinguished Career in Law Enforcement

After completing his first degree at ABU, Zaria, Dr. Arase enlisted as a Cadet ASP. His career in law enforcement began in Bendel State in 1987, where he served as a young Superintendent in the State CID during the infamous Anini Saga. He later worked diligently in Lagos Panti State CID, Yaba, demonstrating his unwavering dedication to duty.

Dr. Arase held several key positions throughout his career, including Principal Staff Officer to three Inspectors-General of Police. His work showcased his brilliance, wisdom, knowledge, and ethical standards. As a police officer, he respected the rights of citizens and was a role model who never violated their rights. He lived by the principles of faith, integrity, and service, always fearing God and striving to do what was right.

Leadership and Legacy

As the Commissioner of Police in Akwa Ibom State, Dr. Arase was recognized as one of the best Police Commissioners in Nigeria. His leadership extended beyond his tenure, as he headed the Force CID, the Intelligence Department, and enforced Intelligence-Led Police Operations. He also pioneered Community-Based Policing, leaving behind a lasting legacy that continues to influence modern policing strategies.

Dr. Arase was the 18th Police IGP in Nigeria and the first IGP from Edo State. His passing was a significant loss not only for Benin City and Edo State but for the entire nation. He was known for being humble, patriotic, clear-thinking, and of excellent character. His brilliance in learning and impressive performance made him a standout figure in Nigerian history.

A Life Well Lived

Dr. Arase lived, worked, and died for Nigeria. His life was characterized by wit, selflessness, and immense humanity. He was a true model of military history, embodying the values of service and dedication. His contributions to the police force and the nation were immeasurable.

The loss of such a remarkable individual is deeply felt. When great leaders pass away, their impact is felt far and wide. May God forgive him for any shortcomings and accept his gentle, kind, lovely, and peaceful soul into Paradise.
