The Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA), the official registry for the country’s .ng domain, has launched the public voting phase for the 8th edition of the .ng Awards. This prestigious event features 88 nominees across 19 categories, celebrating excellence and innovation in Nigeria’s digital landscape.

Voting Period and Timeline

In a recent statement, NiRA announced that the voting process began on 31 October 2025 and will continue for 20 days, concluding at midnight on 19 November 2025. The annual .ng Awards aim to recognize individuals and organizations that have effectively utilized the .ng domain to strengthen Nigeria’s online presence and support the nation’s expanding digital ecosystem.

Milestone Celebration

This year’s awards mark a significant milestone as it coincides with NiRA’s 20th anniversary in 2025. The association has been a key player in the development of Nigeria’s internet space, showcasing stewardship, innovation, and leadership over the past two decades.

President of NiRA, Mr Adesola Akinsanya, emphasized the importance of this edition: “The 8th edition of the .ng Awards is a celebration of progress and innovation within Nigeria’s digital ecosystem. Each nominee represents the growing trust, relevance, and adoption of the .ng domain across industries.”

Nomination Process and Categories

The nomination process was open to the public for 15 days, resulting in 88 nominees spread across 19 categories. These include:

  • Most Innovative Service Provider Online
  • Best Banking Website/Portal
  • Best E-payment Website
  • .ng FinTech Company of the Year
  • Best E-commerce Website
  • Best Tertiary Institution Website
  • Digital Innovation in State and Federal Government

Chair of the .ng Awards Committee, Mr Peter Oluka, praised the shortlisted nominees, highlighting their contributions to the growth of Nigeria’s digital economy. He noted that this year’s edition is particularly meaningful as NiRA celebrates 20 years of promoting the .ng brand.

“We congratulate all 88 shortlisted nominees for their continuous contributions to the growth of Nigeria’s digital space through the .ng domain. This year’s Awards carry even greater meaning as we celebrate two decades of NiRA’s excellence and reflect on the evolution of the .ng domain as a key pillar of our national digital identity,” Oluka said.

Structure of the Awards

The .ng Awards are divided into two segments:

  • General Awards: Covering 19 publicly nominated and voted categories.
  • Presidential Awards: Conferred directly by NiRA’s leadership to honor exceptional impact in advancing Nigeria’s internet growth.

NiRA’s Chief Operating Officer, Mrs Oluwaseyi Onasanya, explained that the awards align with the organization’s broader mission of promoting the .ng domain as the foundation of Nigeria’s digital identity.

Next Steps and Announcement

After the voting phase, winners will be selected based on NiRA’s criteria and evaluation process. The results will be announced at the .ng Awards Night, scheduled for December 2025.
