Emergency Response to Explosion at Supreme Court Building in Islamabad

A significant explosion occurred in a section of the Supreme Court building in Islamabad, resulting in multiple injuries. The incident was caused by an ignition of gas from an air conditioning system. Several individuals were severely burned and required immediate medical attention.

Following the explosion, rescue teams quickly arrived at the scene and transported the injured to the Burn Care Centre at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS). The medical staff at PIMS demonstrated remarkable professionalism and efficiency in handling the emergency. Under the supervision of Dr Abdul Khaliq Malik, Director of the Burn Centre, and Dr Syed Mujahid Gillani, Incharge ICU, the team of doctors and nurses worked swiftly to provide first aid to the patients. This prompt action led to a noticeable improvement in the condition of the injured individuals.

Dr Abdul Khaliq Malik shared his insights on the response. He stated, “Our team responded promptly and effectively, ensuring that the patients were stabilized. This reflects the training, teamwork, and humanitarian commitment of the PIMS Burn Centre staff.” He emphasized that all ventilators and emergency equipment were immediately activated to prevent any lapses in critical care.

Dr Syed Mujahid Gillani and the ICU team continued to monitor the injured closely, ensuring that all modern treatment protocols were strictly followed. Their dedication and expertise played a crucial role in the recovery process of the patients.
