Azerbaijan Explores Tourism Opportunities with Pakistan
Azerbaijan has expressed its confidence in the vast potential of its tourism sector, particularly in areas such as cultural, heritage, adventure, wellness, and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourism. During a recent event in Pakistan, the chief of the Azerbaijan Tourism Board, Florian Sengstschmid, emphasized that collaboration between Azerbaijan and Pakistan could significantly enhance business-to-business and people-to-people interactions.
The remarks were made during a media briefing held on the final day of the Azerbaijan Tourism Board’s Pakistan Roadshows, which took place from October 27 to 31, 2025, across three major cities: Lahore, Karachi, and Islamabad. The roadshow aimed to bring together key stakeholders from both countries to explore new opportunities and strengthen existing ties.
Over 200 Pakistani travel trade professionals and 21 media representatives participated in the event. They had the opportunity to connect with Azerbaijani tourism stakeholders, including five prominent local partners from the country’s tourism industry. These included Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL), Shahdag Mountain Resort, and Absheron Hotel Group (AHG), along with top hotel chains and destination management companies. Together, they showcased the diverse range of travel experiences Azerbaijan offers, from cultural and heritage tourism to adventure, wellness, and MICE segments.
The roadshow highlighted Azerbaijan’s accessibility, safety, and appeal for travelers throughout the year. During the B2B sessions, partners engaged with representatives from the local travel trade, airlines, and media to strengthen cooperation and develop new business opportunities. Key presentations covered topics such as family travel experiences, mountain and ski resorts, wellness tourism, and major upcoming events.
The event concluded with a media briefing in Islamabad, where Florian Sengstschmid, CEO of the Azerbaijan Tourism Board, and Samir Ahmedli, Deputy of the Mission at the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Pakistan, were present. This gathering served as an important platform for reinforcing tourism ties and promoting Azerbaijan as a destination where East meets West.
With an increasing number of visitors from Pakistan in recent years, the roadshows played a crucial role in expanding the market presence of Azerbaijan in the region. The event also underscored the potential for joint collaborations that could further boost tourism between the two countries.
The Azerbaijan Tourism Board (ATB) is the national promotion body established under the State Tourism Agency of Azerbaijan. Its main objectives include supporting the growth of the country’s tourism industry and encouraging visitors to explore its rich cultural offerings and ancient heritage.
Through initiatives like the Pakistan Roadshows, Azerbaijan continues to showcase its unique blend of history, culture, and natural beauty to international audiences. The event not only provided valuable insights into the country’s tourism potential but also laid the foundation for future partnerships and exchanges between Azerbaijan and Pakistan.
