MAS clinches top honors at 2025 Presidential Environmental Awards

Recognition for Environmental Leadership

Sri Lanka has witnessed a significant milestone in the realm of environmental sustainability, as MAS Holdings was celebrated for its outstanding contributions at the Presidential Environmental Awards 2025. The event, which took place recently, highlighted the efforts of various organizations that have made remarkable strides in promoting environmental conservation and sustainable industrial practices.

The awards, organized by the Central Environmental Authority (CEA) under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, serve as a platform to acknowledge institutions that have demonstrated exceptional commitment to protecting the environment. This year, MAS Holdings stood out as one of the most awarded organizations, with multiple business units receiving recognition for their leadership in environmental performance and compliance.

Awards Across Different Categories

In the Textile and Textile Processing Industry category (Type A & B), MAS Active Linea Intimo was honored with the Gold Award. Additionally, MAS Kreeda Vaanavil earned Silver, while Silueta received Bronze. Within the Apparel Industry category (Type A & B), MAS Kreeda Shadeline and MAS Intimates Thurulie were awarded Silver. MAS Active Contourline received Bronze, and MAS Kreeda Balangoda was presented with a Merit Award.

These accolades reflect the rigorous evaluations conducted under the Central Environmental Authority’s Environmental Protection Licence (EPL) framework. This framework classifies industries based on their potential environmental impact, with Type A and B industries being categorized as higher-impact sectors. These industries are subject to stricter compliance requirements to ensure they operate within nationally defined environmental parameters.

Commitment to Sustainability

MAS Holdings’ achievements are closely aligned with its sustainability commitments outlined in the Plan for Change framework. This initiative sets clear goals to reduce emissions, enhance resource efficiency, and promote circular manufacturing. The Group recently launched the Plan for Change 2030, a renewed five-year roadmap that builds upon previous commitments while setting refreshed targets across the pillars of Product, Lives, and Planet.

The Presidential Environmental Awards are held annually and are considered among Sri Lanka’s highest recognitions for environmental performance across both public and private sectors. For MAS Holdings, the 2025 awards represent another significant step in its long-term journey toward embedding sustainability at the core of its business operations. This commitment reinforces the Group’s dedication to responsible growth and national development.

Key Pillars of MAS Holdings’ Sustainability Efforts

  • Product: Focusing on creating eco-friendly products that minimize environmental impact.
  • Lives: Enhancing the well-being of employees and communities through sustainable practices.
  • Planet: Implementing strategies to reduce carbon footprint and promote environmental stewardship.

By continuously striving to meet and exceed environmental standards, MAS Holdings is not only contributing to the global movement towards sustainability but also setting an example for other organizations to follow. The recognition received at the Presidential Environmental Awards 2025 underscores the importance of such initiatives in driving positive change and fostering a more sustainable future.
