#AnambraDecides2025: Gov Soludo Casts Vote in Peaceful Election Process

Governor Casts Vote in Peaceful and Orderly Environment

Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo made a public appearance at Isuofia Ward, Ofiyi Square, Polling Unit 002, around 1:15 p.m. He cast his vote in the ongoing election, drawing cheers from both townspeople and voters present at the location.

Accompanied by his wife, Nonye Soludo, as well as his children, the governor was seen engaging with the local community. His presence was a clear demonstration of his commitment to the democratic process and his support for the electoral system.

After casting his ballot, the governor shared his impressions of the voting process. He described it as seamless, orderly, and peaceful. He praised the high voter turnout and the calm behavior displayed by both voters and electoral officers throughout the day.

He remarked, “From what I see here, and from the calls I’ve been receiving since morning, I can say that everything is going on smoothly, except reports from Nnewi South Local Government Area, where a certain candidate from the area desperate to win the council area, is reportedly sharing fifteen thousand naira to each voter.”

The governor also highlighted other challenges reported in different parts of the state. He mentioned that there were issues with the Biometric Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) malfunctioning in Olumbanasa, within Anambra West Local Government Area. Despite these concerns, he reassured the public that there was no cause for alarm.

“On the basis of one man, one vote, we’re confident of having a landslide victory. There’s no doubt about it,” he said, expressing his belief in the integrity of the electoral process.

However, the governor also revealed that he had received credible reports regarding alleged malpractice. He indicated that a certain political party was involved in bribing some electoral officers and providing them with pre-written results to swap during submission.

Despite these allegations, the governor expressed hope that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) would uphold its responsibility and maintain the trust placed in it by the people.

Key Issues Reported During the Election Process

  • Voter Bribes: Reports suggest that a candidate in Nnewi South Local Government Area is offering fifteen thousand naira to each voter.
  • Technical Malfunctions: The Biometric Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) experienced issues in Olumbanasa, Anambra West Local Government Area.
  • Alleged Corruption: There are credible reports of a political party bribing electoral officers and providing them with pre-written results to manipulate the outcome.

Governor’s Confidence in the Electoral Outcome

Despite the challenges, Governor Soludo remains optimistic about the election results. He emphasized that the principle of “one man, one vote” would ensure a fair and transparent process.

His remarks reflect not only his confidence in the system but also his belief in the power of the people to make informed decisions. He encouraged all stakeholders to remain vigilant and report any irregularities they may observe.
