Bowen University’s Education Produces Top Awardees

Dr. Adebukola Abiola, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Preston Healthcare in the United States, praised Bowen University’s educational system as highly productive. His comments were made during the university’s 20th convocation ceremonies, where he was conferred with an honorary Doctor of Science (Ph.D. Honoris Causa) degree.

Abiola highlighted the institution’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and social impact. He noted that Bowen University consistently ranks among the top universities in Nigeria and Sub-Saharan Africa, a testament to its commendable efforts. He emphasized that education at Bowen University is a sound investment in the future of students, especially those interested in medical and health sciences.

He also commended the Nigerian Baptist Convention for establishing Bowen University with the goal of promoting discipline and faith-based learning in Nigeria. Abiola urged the university management to maintain its strong academic and moral standards while advising the graduates to demonstrate “Godliness with skills” in their careers and communities.

Captain (Dr.) Edward Boyo, Founder and CEO of Overland Airways and Landover Company, echoed similar sentiments. He described Bowen University as an institution that parents can trust for sound education and character formation. Boyo, who also received an honorary Doctor of Business Administration (Ph.D.) degree, stated, “Every resource committed to educate a child in Bowen is never a waste. The products will justify the input of the parents.”

He pledged his company’s support for the development of the university’s aviation program, further reinforcing the institution’s growing reputation.

Vision for the Future

In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Jonathan Babalola, emphasized that the university focuses on cultivating character and developing essential skills in its students. He mentioned that Bowen University has signed several Memoranda of Understanding with international universities and research institutes to enrich teaching, research, and learning.

“Today, Bowen University stands as a beacon of faith, knowledge and integrity, a testimony that excellence and Godliness are not mutually exclusive,” he said.

The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Deaconess Joan Olatoyosi Ayo (OON), congratulated the graduating students and highlighted the importance of collaboration between the Baptist Convention, the university community, parents, alumni, and the Iwo community in achieving the university’s vision.

Meanwhile, the Visitor to the university, Rev. Israel Adelani Akanji, President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention (NBC), expressed satisfaction with the institution’s progress. He advised the graduating students to remain guided by the Scriptures as they move forward in life.
