Decline in Dengue Cases in Islamabad Following Anti-Dengue Operations
The district administration has reported a significant decline in dengue cases across Islamabad following extensive anti-dengue operations conducted in both rural and urban areas. These efforts have focused on inspecting and treating locations where mosquitoes are likely to breed, with the aim of reducing the spread of the disease.
During the campaign, over 45,000 locations were inspected by field teams. The teams carried out large-scale spraying and fumigation activities to control mosquito breeding. According to the surveillance report, 1,073 houses were sprayed, while 1,062 sites underwent fumigation as part of the ongoing dengue control plan. Additionally, 45,306 sites were inspected during the field operations to identify and eliminate mosquito larvae.
In the past 24 hours, 10 new dengue cases were recorded in the capital—8 from rural areas and 2 from urban sectors. Hospitals across Islamabad are currently treating 44 dengue patients. Despite this, the administration has noted that the number of new cases has decreased compared to earlier weeks, thanks to the ongoing efforts.
As part of the larvae eradication drive, 337 sites tested positive for larvae presence, while 1 site tested negative. This data highlights the effectiveness of the current measures being taken to combat the spread of dengue.
Continued Efforts and Community Involvement
Officials have directed field teams to intensify their monitoring and operational efforts to further improve dengue control measures. The administration has also urged residents to report any instances of mosquito breeding or larvae found in their areas to the district control room for prompt action. This community involvement is essential in ensuring that all potential breeding grounds are addressed quickly.
The district administration has also warned that strict penalties and legal action will be taken against those who violate dengue prevention standard operating procedures. This includes property owners and businesses that fail to comply with hygiene and preventive guidelines. The goal is to ensure that all sectors of the population contribute to the fight against dengue.
