However, the growing use of artificial intelligence (AI) to generate these images raises important ethical questions. While AI can create visually appealing food photos, the practice of using AI-generated content instead of real photographs of dishes can be misleading. This approach not only enhances low-quality menu items but also risks deceiving customers into believing that the restaurant can deliver the same quality of food as shown in the images.

Addressing AI Misuse in Advertising

The issue of false or exaggerated advertising using generative AI is gaining attention in legislative circles. In response, Rep. Park Jeong-hoon from the People Power Party proposed a partial revision bill to the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection. The amendment aims to ensure transparency by requiring clear labeling of advertisements that use AI-generated content—such as videos, audio, or images that are indistinguishable from real ones—as “AI-generated.”

This regulation prohibits tampering with or forging such labels, and platform operators are required to remove any advertisements that violate these rules. The goal is to protect consumers from being misled and to maintain trust in digital advertising.
