10 Students Gain Global Opportunities Through Huawei’s “Seeds for the Future” Program in China

A Global Experience for Ghanaian Students

Ten university students from Ghana have taken part in the 2025 edition of Huawei’s “Seeds for the Future” program, a global Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative that provides young talents with an immersive experience in China. This year’s program, which ran from October 20 to 26, 2025, was organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations.

The program brought together students from several institutions across Ghana, including the University of Professional Studies, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ho Technical University, Ghana Communications Technology University, Data Link Institute of Business and Technology, and Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development. These participants joined over 150 students from around the world in exploring cutting-edge technologies and gaining hands-on training in key areas such as 5G, Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, and Smart City technologies.

Exploring Advanced Technologies

During their stay in Dongguan and Shenzhen, the students had the opportunity to visit smart photovoltaic sites and explore Huawei’s Sanyapo and Xicun campuses. They also toured the company’s state-of-the-art labs and exhibition halls, where they learned about the latest advancements in technology. In addition, the group visited other technology companies in Shenzhen to discover innovations in drone and gaming technologies, gaining valuable insights into China’s rapidly evolving digital ecosystem.

The program also included cultural activities that allowed students to engage with the local environment. One such activity was a visit to the Shenzhen Museum, where participants explored the rich cultural heritage of China. The students also took part in the Global Village project, which brought together young talents from 10 countries, including Ghana. Through this initiative, students showcased their unique cultures and fostered global friendships, reinforcing the importance of cross-cultural understanding and collaboration.

Building a Global Perspective

Through the “Seeds for the Future” program, the students not only gained technical knowledge but also developed a broader perspective on innovation, cultural diversity, and sustainable development. The experience provided them with opportunities to network with peers from different backgrounds and learn about the role of technology in shaping the future.

Since its launch in Ghana in 2015, the “Seeds for the Future” program has supported more than 300 students from various tertiary institutions across the country. The initiative aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry requirements while promoting global collaboration in science and technology. By equipping students with practical skills and a global outlook, the program seeks to empower the next generation of ICT professionals and inspire others to pursue careers in the field.

A Step Toward Innovation

The program continues to be a vital platform for young talents to gain exposure to the latest technological developments and understand the potential of innovation in driving economic growth. As the global landscape becomes increasingly interconnected, initiatives like “Seeds for the Future” play a crucial role in preparing students to contribute meaningfully to the digital transformation of their communities and beyond.

By fostering partnerships between education and industry, Huawei is helping to shape a future where technology serves as a tool for progress, inclusivity, and sustainable development.
