This program, which focuses on technology and innovation, brings together students from various universities across Ghana to experience advanced technologies and gain hands-on training in key areas such as 5G, Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, and Smart City technologies.

Participating Universities

This year’s edition of the program included students from several prominent institutions in Ghana. These include:

  • University of Professional Studies
  • Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology

Program Details and Activities

The program took place from October 20 to 26, 2025, in Dongguan and Shenzhen, China. During this time, over 150 students from around the world came together to explore cutting-edge technologies and engage in practical training sessions. The program provided participants with a comprehensive understanding of the latest advancements in the tech industry.

Participants had the opportunity to tour smart photovoltaic sites and visit Huawei’s Sanyapo and Xicun campuses in Dongguan. They also explored the company’s state-of-the-art labs and exhibition halls, gaining valuable insights into the technological innovations that are shaping the future.

In addition to these visits, the students were taken to other technology companies in Shenzhen to explore drone and gaming technologies. This exposure allowed them to understand the evolving digital ecosystem in China and how it is influencing global trends.

Cultural Exchange and Global Collaboration

Beyond the technical aspects of the program, participants also engaged in cultural activities. They visited the Shenzhen Museum to learn about China’s rich heritage and traditions. Additionally, they participated in the Global Village project, where students from 10 countries, including Ghana, showcased their diverse cultures. This activity not only promoted cultural exchange but also fostered global friendships and a deeper understanding of different perspectives.

The event was aligned with Huawei’s mission to build bridges across nations through technology and collaboration. It emphasized the importance of global partnerships in driving innovation and addressing common challenges.

Impact and Future Prospects

Through the “Seeds for the Future” program, the students gained not only technical knowledge but also a global perspective on innovation, cultural diversity, and sustainable development. Since its inception in Ghana in 2015, the program has benefited more than 300 students from various tertiary institutions nationwide.

The program aims to bridge the gap between industry and academia while fostering global collaboration in science and technology. It also seeks to reinforce the determination of beneficiaries to contribute to the growing ICT ecosystem and to inspire other young talents to pursue careers in the sector.

By providing these students with access to advanced technologies and international experiences, the program plays a crucial role in shaping the next generation of tech leaders in Ghana and beyond.
