Key Highlights of Morocco’s Industrial Growth in 2024
In 2024, Morocco witnessed a significant surge in industrial investment, with an impressive 30% increase that brought the total to 90 billion dirhams. This growth was highlighted during the third edition of the National Industry Day, which took place in Rabat on November 3 and 4, 2025. The event, organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade in collaboration with the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM), showcased remarkable achievements in the country’s industrial sector.
During this year’s event, it was announced that industrial turnover reached an impressive 898 billion dirhams. This represents an over 9% increase compared to the previous year’s 822 billion dirhams. Industrial production also experienced a notable rise, increasing by 12% to reach 842 billion dirhams. In addition, the industrial added value was reported at 240 billion dirhams, reflecting an 11% growth.
The event organizers emphasized a significant development in the technology classification of the industry. By 2024, 51% of the industry was classified as high or medium-high technology, up from 39% in 2014. This shift highlights Morocco’s growing focus on advanced manufacturing and innovation. Furthermore, total industrial employment reached 1,038,133 positions, with 42,714 net new jobs created last year.
Leadership and Strategic Vision
The third edition of the National Industry Day was presided over by Aziz Akhannouch, head of government, alongside Ryad Mezzour, Minister of Industry and Trade, and Chakib Alj, president of CGEM. The event centered around the theme “Made in Morocco: a guarantee of quality and competitiveness, and a lever for integrated territorial development.”
This theme underscored the importance of the national industry in driving economic progress. The previous year was marked by significant economic advances, reflecting the maturity and resilience of Morocco’s productive fabric in the face of global challenges. Organizers emphasized the need to mobilize all actors within the industrial ecosystem around the strategic role of “Made in Morocco,” which is seen as a key driver of industrial development, territorial integration, and innovative entrepreneurship.
Launch of the “Made in Morocco” Label
One of the most notable highlights of the event was the launch of the “Made in Morocco” label, a certification of distinction designed to promote the quality and competitiveness of Moroccan products. This initiative aims to strengthen the Moroccan brand and highlight local expertise on both national and international markets.
A framework partnership agreement was also established between the ministries of Industry and Trade, Investment, Convergence and Evaluation of Public Policies, the CGEM, and IMANOR. The goal of this agreement is to create a strategic collaboration framework between institutional and economic actors for the promotion of the “Made in Morocco” label.
Expansion of Innovation Support Programs
In addition to the label, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, along with the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication, the delegate to the Minister of Economy and Finance responsible for the budget, Morocco SME, and the CGEM, signed an amendment to the agreement concerning the industrial innovation support programs “TATWIR-R&D AND INNOVATION.” This renewal, extending over three years (2026-2028), includes start-ups and gaming companies among the beneficiaries of the Innovation Support Fund.
The additional funding allocated for this initiative amounts to 900 million dirhams, demonstrating Morocco’s commitment to fostering innovation and supporting the growth of emerging industries. This move is expected to further enhance the country’s position as a hub for technological and entrepreneurial development in the region.
