The Chartered Institute of Bankers, Ghana (CIB Ghana) has made a strong statement about its dedication to cultivating a new generation of banking professionals who are not only technologically adept but also deeply rooted in ethical principles. This commitment is aimed at ensuring that the financial sector remains resilient and capable of meeting the challenges of an ever-evolving landscape.

At the launch of the 2025 Bankers’ Week in Accra, Mr. Robert Dzato, the Chief Executive Officer of CIB Ghana, highlighted the importance of preparing banking professionals to navigate rapid technological changes and shifting customer expectations. He emphasized that the future of banking will be defined by institutions that can successfully integrate technology with trust, and that CIB Ghana is actively working to ensure that its members are equipped to do so.

“The future of banking will belong to institutions that combine technology with trust, and we are preparing banking professionals not only to embrace digital transformation but to do so anchored in professionalism, integrity, and strong ethical values,” Mr. Dzato stated.

This year’s Bankers’ Week theme, “Building Future-Ready Banks: Ethical Leadership, Sustainable Finance and Currency Stability,” reflects the Institute’s renewed focus on enhancing competence, integrity, and leadership within the banking ecosystem. The event serves as a platform for discussions on how to balance innovation with ethical responsibility, ensuring that the bankers of tomorrow are both digitally literate and ethically grounded.

Mr. Dzato noted that CIB Ghana continues to expand its capacity-building efforts through various initiatives, including:

  • Enhanced professional certification programs
  • Strategic global partnerships
  • Curriculum reforms aligned with emerging trends such as artificial intelligence, open banking, cybersecurity, and sustainable finance

He added that the next decade will present significant challenges for Ghana’s banking and finance industry, and that institutions that invest in people, ethics, and strategic innovation will shape the future of the sector.

Activities and Events During Bankers’ Week

The 2025 Bankers’ Week kicked off with a health and fitness event called ‘Sports for Life’ at the Athletics Oval, University of Ghana, Legon. This event included cancer and mental-health awareness sessions, alongside sporting activities like football, basketball, volleyball, and board games.

Mr. Dzato emphasized that this initiative aligns with the Institute’s well-being agenda, highlighting the importance of physical and mental wellness in sustaining a high-performance professional culture.

  • The 29th Annual Banking and Ethics Conference on November 11, 2025
  • An induction and Graduation Ceremony on December 13, 2025
