Anambra Women Prepared for Guber Polls, Says Ejielo

Women Leader of APC Anambra State Expresses Confidence in Voter Readiness

Mrs. Maria Ejielo, the Women Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) state chapter in Anambra, has expressed confidence that the women of the state are prepared for the upcoming governorship polls scheduled for Saturday. According to her, the campaigns have been conducted in line with the guidelines set by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and they are expected to conclude by midnight today.

Ejielo shared her insights with the Daily Independent on Thursday in Awka, emphasizing that her party has made significant efforts during the campaign period. The APC has traversed every part of the state, mobilizing the people and advocating for votes while promoting its programs and messages of hope to the electorate.

Challenges Facing Anambra State

The issues facing Anambra state are well known, according to Ejielo. She pointed out that insecurity is a major concern in the region, as well as high youth unemployment and deteriorating roads. She questioned how many residents are unaware of these challenges, stating:

“Who in our state does not know that insecurity is a major problem here, who wants to be told that youth unemployment is high, our roads in total disrepair and that is where there’s any at all.”

She also highlighted the lack of electricity and energy, which has led to the decline of existing industries and hindered the establishment of new ones. “Electricity and or energy is virtually non-existent and existing industries are dead and new ones are not being established because of this lack of energy,” she said.

Economic Struggles and Taxation

Another pressing issue raised by Ejielo is the burden of multiple taxation imposed by the government in Awka. This has affected local businesses, leading to some shops closing down. “Let me tell you one other thing, our people are dying under the weight of the multiple taxation the government in Awka has imposed on us, our businesses, leading to some of our shops closed,” she stated.

APC’s Vision for Anambra

Despite these challenges, Ejielo emphasized that the APC has been engaging with the people of Anambra, presenting solutions to address issues such as insecurity, agriculture, unemployment, and industrialization. The party has also promised a 24-hour electricity supply for both domestic and industrial use.

“They have heard and seen through all these and have accepted us as the credible alternative Anambra needs to make progress and move forward,” she said.

A Call for Change and Good Governance

Ejielo added that Anambra women have embraced these ideals and are ready, poised to vote for the APC on Saturday to bring about change and transformation. She believes that this will usher in good governance and improve the quality of life for the people of Anambra.

Key Issues Addressed by APC

  • Insecurity: The APC has proposed strategies to tackle crime and ensure safety for residents.
  • Youth Unemployment: The party has outlined plans to create job opportunities for young people.
  • Infrastructure Development: Improving roads and public facilities is a top priority.
  • Energy Supply: Ensuring a reliable electricity supply for both homes and industries.

Conclusion

As the polls approach, Ejielo remains optimistic about the support the APC will receive from the women of Anambra. She believes that their commitment to addressing the state’s challenges will lead to positive change and a brighter future for all residents.
