ACCRACO and CPC Expand Partnership to Boost Cocoa Exports

Chinese Delegation Strengthens Trade Ties with Ghana’s Cocoa Processing Company

A delegation from Accra Cocoa Food Trading Co. Ltd (ACCRACO), a key business partner of the Cocoa Processing Company (CPC) based in Hunan, China, recently visited CPC to strengthen existing trade relations and explore opportunities for expanding the export of semi-finished cocoa products.

The collaboration is aimed at enhancing value addition within the cocoa industry and reinforcing Ghana’s role in the global cocoa supply chain. This initiative also supports the government’s broader strategy to promote local processing and the export of high-value cocoa products.

The delegation, led by Yin Yingjie, Deputy Director of Commerce for Yiyang City in the Hunan Province, expressed confidence in the partnership. He highlighted that the China–Ghana Cocoa Cooperation Agreement would not only boost bilateral trade but also help CPC expand its market presence in China and beyond in Asia.

According to Mr. Yin, the cooperation will allow more CPC semi-finished cocoa products to enter the Chinese market, supporting both state-owned and private enterprises involved in cocoa processing and related activities.

Professor William Coffie, Managing Director of CPC, welcomed the delegation and emphasized the potential of the partnership. He described the collaboration as offering significant business opportunities in the short, medium, and long term.

He reiterated CPC’s commitment to its turnaround strategy, which includes addressing trade challenges, increasing capital flow, and forming strategic partnerships to enhance the company’s position in the Chinese market.

“CPC remains dedicated to building sustainable global partnerships. This cooperation with ACCRACO presents an important opportunity to increase our exports, deepen value addition, and reinforce Ghana’s position in the international cocoa market,” said Prof. Coffie.

ACCRACO plays a crucial role as the main distributor and intermediary between CPC and key players in China’s cocoa value chain, particularly in areas such as packaging, warehousing, and shipping.

As part of the collaboration, a cocoa product purchase and supply agreement was signed between the two companies, marking the beginning of a firm, long-term commitment to trade under the Portem and Goldentree brands.
