Lyon vs PSG: Enrique on Resilience, Zaire-Emery, Neves, and Lee

PSG Secures Victory in a Thrilling Encounter

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) emerged victorious in a closely contested match against Olympique Lyonnais, winning 3-2 on Sunday at Parc OL during Matchday 12 of the 2025-2026 Ligue 1 season. The win not only solidified their position in the league table but also highlighted key moments and performances from both the team and its coach, Luis Enrique.

A Win That Reflects Resilience

After the match, Enrique addressed the press, emphasizing the importance of securing a win, especially in challenging circumstances. “It’s important to win, to be top of the table,” he said, reflecting on the significance of the result. When asked if this victory was a testament to the resilience he had previously called for, Enrique acknowledged the team’s mental strength.

“We showed the right, precise mentality to win the match. We scored, and Lyon equalized. And so on. At 2-2, it was difficult. We didn’t have time to control the game. It’s important to win, to be top of the table, because you have to win matches when things get tough.”

Warren Zaïre-Emery Shines

Enrique also praised the performance of Warren Zaïre-Emery, highlighting his growing confidence this season. “This is a more confident Warren this season. He can play anywhere. He’s very effective. He’s a real asset.” The coach noted that having players who can adapt to multiple positions is crucial, especially during periods of struggle. However, he also pointed out areas for improvement, particularly in defense.

“We’ll keep going, we still need to improve defensively. We made two mistakes. We need to know when to push the defensive line forward and when not to.”

Defensive Errors Highlighted

When questioned about the second goal conceded by Lyon, Enrique clarified that the mistake was not attributed to the goalkeeper. “The mistake wasn’t the goalkeeper’s, but the defending players’.” He explained that the team needs to make better decisions when pressing the ball, either by pushing the defensive line forward or avoiding unnecessary chasing.

“These are individual errors that need to be corrected.”

João Neves’ Impact

Enrique also spoke about João Neves, who has been instrumental in recent matches, scoring against Bayern Munich and Lyon. “All the players are important, especially those who score!” He expressed hope for a more stable season, acknowledging the challenges faced this year. “Since the start of this season, nothing has been normal.”

Kang-In Lee Celebrates Milestone

The coach also recognized Kang-In Lee for reaching 100 matches with PSG. “I want to congratulate him on his 100th match with PSG. He takes corners and he does it very well. I can see that clearly. He has quality.” Enrique emphasized that Lee’s contributions are vital, and he continues to look for ways to improve, just like all other players.

Looking Ahead

As PSG moves forward, the focus will remain on refining defensive strategies and maintaining the momentum gained from this hard-fought victory. With key players stepping up and showing growth, the team is poised to continue its pursuit of success in the league.
