Expansion of LASAA Offices to Boost Operations
The Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency (LASAA) has taken significant steps to enhance its operational efficiency across the state. Recently, the agency announced the opening of 15 additional offices, which are strategically located in various parts of Lagos. These new offices aim to improve accessibility and streamline the services provided by LASAA.
Revenue Growth and Public Awareness
Prince Fatiu Akiolu, the Managing Director of LASAA, shared some impressive financial achievements during a recent meeting with media practitioners in Lagos. He revealed that the agency was able to increase its revenue from 18 percent in 2023 to 50 percent by the end of the 2024 financial year. This remarkable growth is attributed to more effective enforcement measures and better public awareness campaigns about the agency’s operations.
Akiolu emphasized that the success of LASAA is not just about numbers but also about ensuring that the public understands the importance of the agency’s role in regulating signage and advertisements in the state.
New Offices and Infrastructure
One of the key challenges LASAA faced was setting up offices in local government councils. To overcome this issue, the agency decided to build 15 portable cabin offices in several local governments. Alongside the existing 27 offices, this expansion brings the total number of LASAA offices in Lagos to 42.
These new offices are designed to provide better support to residents and businesses while ensuring that the agency can monitor and regulate signage effectively.
Safety Measures for Billboard Installations
In addition to expanding its physical presence, LASAA has also introduced stricter safety protocols for the installation of billboards and signages. According to Akiolu, the agency now conducts site visits when billboards are being installed to ensure that the correct materials are used. This measure is aimed at preventing potential hazards and maintaining high standards of safety across the state.
Support for Small Businesses
There have been concerns among some quarters about whether LASAA is hostile towards small businesses. However, Akiolu clarified that the agency is committed to supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs). He mentioned that the pricing templates for SMEs start as low as N20,000 and N10,000.
However, he also noted that some businesses may opt for more advanced technologies like LED displays. In such cases, Akiolu explained that businesses should be prepared to pay higher fees since LED installations come with higher costs.
Commitment to Integrity
Akiolu reiterated LASAA’s zero-tolerance policy towards corruption. He addressed a recent incident involving an employee and a client, clarifying that it was not a case of fraud. Instead, the employee is facing disciplinary action for failing to follow the proper procedures set by the agency.
