Chiamaka Nnadozie Shortlisted for 2025 Best FIFA Women’s Goalkeeper Award
Super Falcons goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie, has been shortlisted for the prestigious 2025 Best FIFA Women’s Goalkeeper Award. This recognition highlights her exceptional performances and contributions to women’s football on both the club and international stages.
FIFA officially announced the start of the voting process for The Best FIFA Football Awards 2025 on Thursday. Fans from around the globe can now cast their votes through the official FIFA app, selecting the best players, coaches, and goalkeepers of the year. This global initiative allows football enthusiasts to have a direct say in recognizing outstanding talent across the sport.
Nnadozie is among a strong list of contenders for the award, including notable names such as Ann-Katrin Berger (Germany), Cata Coll (Spain), Christiane Endler (Chile), Hannah Hampton (England), Anna Moorhouse (England), and Phallon Tullis-Joyce (USA). Her inclusion in this elite group underscores her status as one of the top goalkeepers in the world.
The reigning African Goalkeeper of the Year made it to the shortlist following an impressive campaign during the 2024/25 season. She played a pivotal role in leading her former club, Paris FC, to victory in the Coupe de France Féminine, marking their first title in nearly 20 years. This achievement was a testament to her skill, determination, and leadership on the field.
In addition to her success at the club level, Nnadozie was instrumental in Nigeria’s 10th WAFCON triumph in Morocco earlier this year. Her consistent performances earned her the title of Goalkeeper of the Tournament, further solidifying her reputation as a reliable and talented player.
After joining Brighton Women in England, Nnadozie has continued to deliver strong performances at the club level. Her efforts have not gone unnoticed, as she was also nominated for the 2025 Women’s Yachine Trophy at the Ballon d’Or. Although she finished fourth in the final standings, this nomination is a significant milestone in her career.
Looking ahead, the 24-year-old is in contention for a third CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award at the upcoming CAF Awards ceremony. This potential achievement would further cement her legacy as one of Africa’s most accomplished goalkeepers.
Voting for the FIFA Best Awards will conclude on November 28, with the winners being celebrated at a ceremony early next year. As the football community eagerly awaits the results, Nnadozie’s journey continues to inspire fans and aspiring athletes alike.
