FG launches new farming mechanization initiative, calls on Nigerians to participate

Overview of the Renewed Hope National Agricultural Mechanisation Programme

The Federal Government, in collaboration with the Bank of Agriculture, has launched the Renewed Hope National Agricultural Mechanisation Programme (RHAMP). This initiative is designed to strengthen Nigeria’s food security by supporting a new wave of agricultural mechanisation service providers. The programme places particular emphasis on empowering women, youth, and mechanisation companies.

Applications for RHAMP are currently open and free of charge. This information was shared through a flyer posted by Dada Olusegun, the Special Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on social media. Interested parties are encouraged to apply via the official website athttps://boanig.combefore the deadline of November 10, 2025.

Key Features of the Programme

RHAMP provides participants with access to affordable tractors and farming implements. These are supported by a comprehensive three-year servicing plan available at verified service centres or mobile hubs. The programme also offers flexible repayment options that are tied to usage and income generation. Additionally, participants can benefit from technical support and digital tracking through IoT technology.

The programme is open to women and youth agripreneurs aged between 18 and 35, as well as mechanisation companies seeking to expand their fleet. RHAMP includes competitive terms such as lease options ranging from 3 to 5 years, a 15 per cent interest rate, and a 25 per cent down payment. Special conditions have been tailored for women and youth to ensure inclusivity and accessibility.

Impact on Nigerian Agriculture

This initiative marks a significant step toward modernising Nigeria’s agricultural systems and improving rural livelihoods. It aims to address key challenges in the sector, including limited access to machinery, high operational costs, and inadequate support for small-scale farmers.

In June, PUNCH Online reported that President Tinubu unveiled the distribution of 2,000 tractors and thousands of farming implements under RHAMP. During the event, the President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering on its promises and building a sustainable agricultural future for the country.

Phase One of the Initiative

The first phase of the initiative includes the deployment of over 2,000 advanced tractors, 50 industrial-grade land preparation bulldozers, 12 fully equipped mobile workshops, and over 8,000 specialised farming implements. These resources are intended to enhance productivity and efficiency across the agricultural value chain.

Benefits for Participants

Participants in RHAMP will gain access to a range of benefits, including:

  • Affordable tractors and implements
  • Three-year servicing plans at verified service centres or mobile hubs
  • Flexible repayment options based on usage and income
  • Technical support and digital tracking via IoT technology

These features are designed to make agricultural mechanisation more accessible and sustainable for small-scale farmers and businesses.

Future Prospects

As the programme continues to roll out, it is expected to create numerous opportunities for economic growth and development in rural areas. By focusing on women and youth, RHAMP aims to foster innovation and entrepreneurship in the agricultural sector.

The success of this initiative could serve as a model for other countries facing similar challenges in food production and rural development. With continued support and investment, RHAMP has the potential to transform Nigeria’s agricultural landscape and contribute to national food security.
