Juaben Municipal Assembly Approves 2026 Composite Budget

The Juaben Municipal Assembly, led by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mrs. Eunice Ohenewaa Ansu, has taken a significant step forward by unanimously approving the 2026 composite budget, which is valued at GHc 37,200,000.00. This decision was made during the second ordinary meeting of the fourth session of the assembly, which took place in Juaben.

According to the MCE, the approval of this budget is crucial for the implementation of key projects and programs that are vital for the development of the municipality. The budget aims to address various needs, including infrastructure development, public services, and community welfare initiatives.

Mr. Samuel Ohemeng, the Budget Analyst, presented the budget on behalf of the MCE. He outlined how different sources of funding would be utilized to cover various expenses. One of the primary sources is the Internally Generated Funds (IGF), which will cover monthly payments for casual labor, fuel allowances, transfer grants, public education, repair of office buildings, staff development, maintenance of office equipment, and maintenance and repair of official vehicles.

In addition to IGF, government grants from the Government of Ghana (GOG) will support activities related to HIV/AIDS and Persons with Disabilities. These include the provision of household items, purchasing of tools, conducting workshops, public education, and donations.

The District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) will play a critical role in facilitating major government flagship programs. This includes the construction of a 24-hour economy market in Juaben and two satellite markets in New Bomfa and Boamfa. These projects are expected to boost economic activities within the municipality significantly.

Other notable projects under the budget include the construction of Community Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds in Atia, Duapompo, and Odoyefe. Additionally, there are plans for a small-town water system in Yaw Nkrumah, as well as drilling and mechanized boreholes in several locations, including Apemso, Juaben Health Quarters, Akyaamakrom, Duapompo Zongo, Ofoase, and Adumasa.

Legacy Projects and Infrastructure Development

Under the legacy projects, the assembly has committed to constructing a CHPS compound in Adumasa, completing the Nurses’ Quarters in Juaben, and finishing a single 10-seater toilet facility in Achiase-Asonmeaso and Daman. These projects aim to address sanitation challenges and improve public health services in the area.

Furthermore, the assembly plans to expand and furnish the Hwere Annnum, Anunum Valley, Juaben, and Bomfa-Edumasa zonal councils. This initiative is designed to enhance revenue mobilization and ensure that the municipality meets its 2026 revenue targets effectively.

The approved budget reflects the commitment of the Juaben Municipal Assembly to sustainable development and improved quality of life for its residents. With the allocation of funds across various sectors, the assembly is poised to make meaningful progress in the coming year.
