Prof. Joshua Ogunwole named new FUOYE VC

New Leadership at Federal University Oye-Ekiti

The Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has officially appointed Professor Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole as its new Vice Chancellor. Ogunwole, a distinguished professor of soil ecosystem, will assume the role of the university’s fifth substantive Vice Chancellor, succeeding Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina in February.

Ogunwole currently holds the position of Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Strategic Partnership, Research, Innovation, and Linkages. His appointment was announced during a meeting chaired by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba (SAN), on Thursday.

According to a statement released by the Public Relations Officer of FUOYE, Mr. Foluso Ogunmodede, the decision marked the conclusion of a lengthy and thorough selection process.

“Today, Thursday, November 6, 2025, marks the end of a long and thorough process to appoint a new Vice Chancellor for FUOYE,” the statement read.

The selection process began in August following an advertisement for the position published in national newspapers. The process, however, was not without challenges, as it caused some tension within and outside the campus. In response, Senator Ndoma-Egba urged all stakeholders to move forward in unity.

“With this appointment, all forms of rancour should end. I encourage all applicants and members of the university community to support the new Vice Chancellor in building a stronger FUOYE,” he said.

The Pro-Chancellor also commended the outgoing Vice Chancellor, Professor Fasina, for his outstanding performance, particularly in developing the university’s infrastructure.

“You are leaving with your head held high. You have done well, and I congratulate you,” the Pro-Chancellor added.

Senator Ndoma-Egba expressed gratitude to the members of the Governing Council for their commitment and teamwork during the selection process.

The meeting concluded with the formal presentation of the appointment letter to Professor Ogunwole.
