Partnership Between World Vision and Oti Regional Coordinating Council
A significant collaboration has been formed between World Vision’s Southern Regional office and the Oti Regional Coordinating Council (ORCC) to address critical water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) challenges in the Oti Region. This partnership was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking the beginning of a five-year initiative aimed at providing universal coverage services in three key districts.
The project focuses on the Krachi West Municipal, Krachi Nchumuru District, and Kadjebi/Akan District, where WASH-related issues have long affected the quality of life for local communities. The goal is to improve access to clean water, proper sanitation facilities, and hygiene education, thereby enhancing public health and overall well-being.
Reverend Harry Nii Kwatei-Owoo, Chief Director of the ORCC, expressed deep appreciation for World Vision’s efforts in addressing these pressing concerns. He emphasized the council’s commitment to supporting the initiative, acknowledging the region’s persistent challenges with WASH infrastructure. Reverend Owoo also highlighted the importance of sustained collaboration between the ORCC and World Vision to ensure the success of the program.
Mr. Irvine Aboagye, Southern Regional Operations Manager of World Vision, welcomed the opportunity to work alongside the ORCC. He praised the council for its willingness to collaborate and reiterated the organization’s dedication to improving living conditions in the Oti Region. Aboagye noted that the WASH projects would have a transformative impact on the communities they serve, contributing to better health outcomes and greater resilience.
Mr. Rebel Wamisho, Associate WASH Director of World Vision, encouraged all stakeholders to remain committed to the initiative. He assured participants that his team would work diligently to achieve the project’s objectives. Wamisho also emphasized the importance of open communication and collaborative efforts, stating that World Vision is always open to new ideas and partnerships.
The MoU signing ceremony was attended by representatives from both organizations, as well as community leaders and officials from the three districts involved. The agreement outlines specific projects that will be implemented over the next five years, with a focus on monitoring and evaluation to ensure accountability and effectiveness.
World Vision and the ORCC have pledged to maintain close coordination throughout the duration of the project. Regular assessments will be conducted to track progress and make necessary adjustments. This collaborative approach aims to maximize the impact of the initiatives and ensure long-term sustainability.
The partnership represents a vital step forward in addressing the WASH challenges faced by the Oti Region. By combining the resources and expertise of both organizations, the initiative has the potential to bring about meaningful change for thousands of residents. As the project moves into its implementation phase, the focus remains on delivering tangible results that improve the lives of those in need.
