Chery Enters Kenya via Caetano Partnership

Chery Makes Its Debut in Kenya, Bringing Global Innovation to Local Roads

Chery, a prominent Chinese automotive brand with over 15 million units sold worldwide, has officially launched its vehicles in the Kenyan market. This move marks a significant milestone for the country’s automotive industry, especially as it continues to grow and evolve.

The brand is known for its successful models such as Arrizo and Tiggo, and its entry into Kenya is seen as a transformative moment for the SUV and new car market. The local market has shown strong performance this year, driven by affordable credit options and resilience in key economic sectors.

Chery’s vehicles are equipped with intelligent technology, setting the stage for a redefinition of what Kenyan drivers expect from modern mobility. The debut lineup includes the Tiggo 4 Pro, Tiggo 7 Pro, and Tiggo 8 Pro Max. These models combine cutting-edge engineering with refined craftsmanship, offering a premium driving experience at an attainable price point.

Designed for Kenya’s modern, ambitious drivers, Chery’s range offers a perfect blend of style, performance, and smart innovation. This has set a new benchmark for accessible luxury in the SUV segment.

“Chery’s arrival in Kenya underscores Caetano Kenya’s commitment to delivering world-class mobility solutions that meet the evolving needs of today’s discerning customers,” said management. “The introduction of Chery brings to the Kenyan market a brand that combines intelligent engineering, contemporary design, and advanced safety.”

This latest development solidifies Caetano’s position in Kenya’s automobile sector. “Our partnership with Chery goes beyond introducing a globally successful automotive brand to our market; it represents a bold commitment to Kenya’s industrial future,” said Aurélien Glay, managing director of Caetano Kenya.

The company plans to start local assembly of Chery vehicles in Kenya next year. This initiative aims to create jobs, transfer skills, and accelerate industrial growth while creating local value. “Built in Kenya, for Kenya, this is not just our strategy, it is our promise,” Glay emphasized.

Key Models and Features

The Tiggo 8 Pro Max is the flagship SUV, a 7-seater designed for executives and families. The Tiggo 7 Pro is a 5-seater SUV that balances performance and elegance, featuring intelligent drive features. The Tiggo 4 Pro is a compact, urban SUV built for dynamic city lifestyles, offering smart connectivity, efficiency, and a premium experience at an entry-level price point.

The pricing strategy is highly competitive in the SUV segment, making premium SUV ownership more attainable. Prices will start from Sh3.9 million and go up accordingly. All models come with a seven-year or 200,000 km warranty, one of the most comprehensive in the market. This is supported by Caetano Kenya’s extensive after-sales network, trained technicians, genuine parts availability, and dedicated customer service support.

Chery has a presence in over 80 countries and is China’s leading passenger vehicle exporter for 21 consecutive years. The launch of Chery expands Caetano Kenya’s growing portfolio and strengthens its position as a true multi-brand mobility leader. It also brings new energy to the SUV segment, which is one of the fastest-growing in the market.

Caetano Kenya aims to sell between 200–400 units in the first 12 months. This realistic yet ambitious target reflects both the strength of the Chery lineup and the growing appetite for modern SUVs in Kenya.

As part of the Salvador Caetano Group, which operates in 41 countries, employs more than 7,000 people, and generates an annual revenue of 2.5 billion euros (Sh 372.1 billion), Caetano Kenya is a leading automotive distributor in the country. Its portfolio includes Hyundai, Kia, Renault, Ford, JMC, and now Chery.
