Deputy Commissioner Abdul Samad Nizamani, representing the Shaheed Benazirabad district, chaired a meeting of the District Coordination Committee on the National Action Plan/Apex Committee at Darbar Hall on Friday. The session focused on reviewing various district-level operations and actions undertaken during October 2025. During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the need for continued efforts to implement the decisions made under the National Action Plan.

Intensifying Enforcement Activities

The Deputy Commissioner directed that actions against illegal fuel pumps should be further intensified. This includes increased arrests of beggars and contractors, issuing challans for traffic violations, and confiscating vehicles found to be operating without proper customs payments. He also urged law enforcement agencies to conduct more rigorous operations against non-custom paid vehicles.

In addition, officers from the Health Department were instructed to accelerate their efforts against quack doctors and illegal medical centers within the district. The Special Branch and other law enforcement agencies were asked to prepare and submit detailed lists of unregistered laboratories and individuals operating clinics from their homes.

Customs officers were encouraged to speed up their actions against illegal petrol pumps, units, and oil depots in the district. They were also reminded to ensure strict vehicle checks along the Mehran and National Highways to prevent smuggling activities.

Ensuring Transparency and Accountability

The Deputy Commissioner also instructed the Assistant Director of Social Welfare to provide a complete list of all NGOs and social organizations currently operating in the district. This initiative aims to promote transparency and accountability among these entities.

Traffic police officers were directed to ensure smooth traffic flow on the Mehran Highway and within Nawabshah city. Furthermore, the Local Government Department was urged to focus on improving sanitation across all towns and union councils, as well as strictly implementing anti-mosquito spray campaigns.

Addressing Absenteeism

Expressing dissatisfaction with the absence of officers from key departments such as Agriculture, Municipal Corporation, Food Authority, and Forest Departments, the Deputy Commissioner stated that letters would be sent to the respective departmental secretaries to initiate disciplinary action against the absent personnel.

The meeting featured briefings from officers of several departments, including Customs, Excise, Special Branch, Police, Health, HESCO, and others. These briefings provided insights into the operations and actions carried out during October.
