Ondo State Police Successfully Rescue Kidnapped Victim and Arrest Four Suspects
The Ondo State Police Command has made a significant breakthrough in a recent kidnapping case, successfully rescuing a victim and arresting four suspects in Akure, the state capital. The incident highlights the police’s swift response and the importance of citizen cooperation in combating crime.
According to the Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, Olayinka Ayanlade, the arrest was triggered by a tip-off from a concerned citizen. The individual reported that four young men had abducted a woman on Tuesday, prompting immediate action from the police.
Ayanlade shared details of the operation, explaining that police operatives quickly mobilized and intercepted the suspects. The victim was rescued before the kidnappers could take her to an unknown destination. The incident occurred on November 4, 2025, at around 6:30 p.m., when a Good Samaritan alerted the police about the abduction.
The suspect vehicle, an unregistered Toyota Camry, was reportedly being used to transport the victim towards the Shoprite Roundabout in Akure. The police acted swiftly, strategically blocking the route and intercepting the vehicle. As a result, all four suspects were arrested, and the victim was safely rescued.
Details of the Abduction
The investigation revealed that the victim, identified as Adebayo Oluwaseun, was taken from Weluwelu Street in the Ilekun area of Akure. The police were able to recover the vehicle used in the alleged abduction, which has now been preserved as evidence. All four suspects are currently in custody while further inquiries continue to uncover more information about the incident.
Ayanlade emphasized the police command’s commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property. He also reiterated the importance of public vigilance and prompt reporting of suspicious activities.
Recent Kidnapping Cases Across Nigeria
This arrest is part of a broader trend of law enforcement agencies taking decisive actions against kidnappers across the country. In Delta State, for instance, a similar operation led to the arrest of a 60-year-old man named Ndianefo Cypre and two other suspected kidnappers. Over N4 million in ransom money was recovered from the victim during this operation.
In another incident, the Ogun State Police Command, in collaboration with other security operatives, conducted a sting operation in the Onipanu area. During this operation, two out of five suspected kidnappers were neutralized, and a victim was rescued without injury.
These incidents underscore the ongoing efforts of Nigerian police forces to combat kidnapping and restore public confidence in the justice system.
Conclusion
The successful rescue of Adebayo Oluwaseun and the arrest of the four suspects in Akure demonstrate the effectiveness of coordinated police operations and community involvement. As investigations continue, it is hoped that these actions will serve as a deterrent to potential criminals and contribute to a safer environment for all citizens.
