Karachi Launches Crackdown on Unauthorized Food and Drink Establishments

The Karachi administration has initiated a stringent operation targeting food and drink establishments that are illegally set up on footpaths and roadside areas. Over the course of three days, 103 such businesses have been sealed, with their inventory also being confiscated, according to an official statement released on Friday.

Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi has ordered deputy commissioners to continue the operation with strict enforcement, ensuring no leniency is shown to any violators. The crackdown has been carried out across multiple sub-divisions, with various cases registered against unauthorized operators.

Operation Details Across Different Sub-Divisions

In theCivil Lines Sub-Division, two tea stalls near PIDC were sealed, and their items were impounded. In theGarden Sub-Division, seven food and drink establishments were demolished, including:

  • Quetta Aisha Hotel
  • Agha Tea Hotel
  • Two Tea Cafes near Trauma Center
  • A Biryani Hotel near Trauma Center
  • Shaheen Bakery

In theAramBagh Sub-Division, three establishments were sealed, including:

  • Two Arif Mutton shops
  • One Mughal Mutton shop

According toDeputy Commissioner East Abrar Jaffar’sreport, 18 hotels and tea stalls were sealed in District East, with their items seized. These included:

  • Cafe Qadri
  • Naseeb Biryani and Peshawar Center
  • Malik Mahfooz Shirmal House
  • Baraq food
  • Quetta Ajwa Hotel
  • Allahwala Biryani and Peshawar
  • Agha Khattak Hotel
  • Cafe Darbar
  • Cafe Hashmi
  • Monty Shawarma
  • Quetta Bolan Hotel
  • Noom Food
  • Cafe Seven Eleven
  • Quetta Alamgir Hotel
  • Food Master
  • Balochi Dampaakht
  • Shahzad Hotel/Quetta

Additionally,Mehran Saji, Quetta Saji, and Bolan Sajiwere also sealed in theGulshan-e-Iqbal Sub-Division.

Expansion of the Operation

In theLiaquatabad Sub-Division,Deputy Commissioner Central Taha Saleemreported that eight food establishments were sealed, including:

  • Lahori Chhole
  • MashaAllah Fish Cutlet
  • United Fast Food

Food establishments and stalls at three supermarkets were also closed, with their items impounded. In theGulberg Sub-Division, 25 food establishments and stalls were sealed, including:

  • Baithak Hot and Roll
  • Town Ice Cream
  • Fast Food
  • Chaman Ice Cream and Juice
  • Jamil Dairy
  • Pioneer Kebab House
  • Cafe Bhai Jan
  • Madni Peshawari Ice Cream and Juice Center
  • Pizza Loft
  • Super Burger
  • New Quetta Rahmat Hotel
  • Karachi Juice Center
  • Cafe Subhanallah
  • Quetta Arshi Hotel
  • HandH Burger
  • Hot and Roll Quetta Cafe

InNorth Nazimabad, several food establishments were sealed, including:

  • New Quetta Subhanallah Hotel
  • Haji Saleem Peshawar Center
  • Zain Mart
  • Kashif Foods
  • Daniyal Bar BQ and Chinese

Deputy Commissioner Korangi Masood Bhattireported that a hotel atShan Chowrangiand an ice cream parlor atKorangi 2 1/2were sealed, with their items seized.

In theShah Faisal Town Sub-Division, several hotels were sealed, including:

  • MashaAllah Hotel
  • New Quetta Islamia Hotel
  • New Quetta Almubarak Hotel
  • New Quetta Marhaba Hotel

InLandhi, nine food establishments were sealed, including:

  • Ghazi Restaurant
  • Cafe Shaki Tea Point
  • Noorani Foods
  • Elahani Tea Point
  • Bholo Restaurant
  • Zam Zam Tea Point
