Launch of Mahan Air’s Regular Flight Service Between Islamabad and Tehran

The inaugural flight of Mahan Air, designated as W5-1184, successfully took off from Islamabad International Airport (IIAP) on Thursday, heading towards Tehran. This marked the beginning of the Iranian airline’s regular air service between the two capitals, enhancing connectivity and fostering closer ties between Pakistan and Iran.

A brief ceremony was organized by SAPS Management at IIAP to commemorate the launch of this new route. The event brought together key figures, including the Chief Operating Officer and Airport Manager of IIAP, the Chief Security Officer, and senior officials and representatives from the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA), Airport Security Force (ASF), and SAPS. Their presence underscored the significance of this milestone in regional aviation.

According to airport officials, all operational and facilitation arrangements were meticulously handled by the teams from PAA and SAPS. This ensured a smooth, safe, and timely departure that adhered to international aviation standards and established procedures. The coordination between different authorities played a crucial role in making the event a success.

The arrival of the Mahan Air flight brought 97 passengers to Islamabad, while the outbound flight carried 264 passengers heading to Tehran. This initial operation demonstrated the potential for increased passenger traffic between the two countries.

Mahan Air has planned to operate two weekly flights between Islamabad and Tehran. This frequency is expected to strengthen air connectivity and promote people-to-people exchanges between Pakistan and Iran. The new service will provide more convenient travel options for business, tourism, and diplomatic purposes.
