Morocco’s Tourism Sector Surpasses Expectations in 2025
Morocco has seen a remarkable surge in tourism during the first ten months of 2025, with 16.6 million visitors recorded, marking a 14% increase compared to the same period in 2024. This impressive growth was announced by Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, and Social and Solidarity Economy Fatim-Zahra Ammor during an event held in Casablanca.
The upward trend highlights the strong momentum of the tourism sector, fueled by the implementation of the 2023 tourism roadmap and increasing investor confidence. According to the minister, Morocco has climbed to the 13th position among the world’s most dynamic destinations according to UN Tourism rankings. This achievement is supported by the addition of 43,000 new beds since 2023, indicating a significant expansion in accommodation capacity.
Strategic Partnerships Drive Growth
One of the key developments in the tourism sector is the strategic partnership between Groupe Alliances and Rixos Hotels. This collaboration introduces the “Luxury All-Inclusive” concept to Morocco, backed by a substantial investment of 1.5 billion MAD. The project is expected to generate thousands of jobs, further strengthening the country’s economic landscape.
The ceremony also unveiled three major projects that are set to enhance Morocco’s tourism offerings:
- Rixos Marrakech: Spanning 26 hectares, this luxury resort will feature 400 rooms and 60 villas.
- Aliée Marrakech: Covering 14 hectares, this project includes 150 rooms and 50 villas.
- Rixos Lixus–Larache: Located on 7.5 hectares, it will offer 400 rooms.
These developments aim to elevate Morocco’s international profile and reinforce its appeal as a premium, family-friendly, and experiential destination. The timing of these projects aligns with the upcoming 2030 World Cup, which presents a unique opportunity for Morocco to showcase its hospitality and infrastructure on a global stage.
Expanding Tourism Offerings
In addition to these large-scale projects, the government continues to focus on diversifying Morocco’s tourism offerings. This includes promoting cultural heritage sites, natural attractions, and sustainable tourism initiatives. By investing in both infrastructure and experiences, Morocco is positioning itself as a top-tier destination for travelers seeking authenticity and quality.
The success of the tourism sector in 2025 underscores the effectiveness of Morocco’s long-term vision and strategic planning. With continued investment and innovation, the country is well on its way to achieving its goals of becoming a leading global tourist destination.
