Morocco Launches 5G Network Nationwide
Morocco has officially launched its fifth-generation (5G) mobile network, marking a significant milestone in the country’s digital transformation. This development is expected to revolutionize connectivity and drive innovation across various sectors.
The rollout was simultaneously announced by three national telecom operators: Maroc Telecom, Orange Maroc, and Inwi. These companies are offering next-generation connectivity to users in major cities, with plans to expand coverage gradually to other regions.
The new technology provides connection speeds exceeding 2 gigabits per second, significantly improving user experience. Compatible smartphones and SIM cards will automatically connect to the 5G network, while the carriers have introduced new data plans tailored for this advanced technology.
Maroc Telecom confirmed through text messages and digital platforms that its 5G service is now live and ready to accommodate new users. Orange Maroc reported that around 100 cities are already covered from the first day, with plans for nationwide expansion. Inwi stated that 5G access is available immediately in major cities at no additional cost. It also noted that current SIM cards are fully compatible and do not require any plan changes. Customers with 5G-enabled phones in covered areas can now enjoy faster and more stable connectivity.
The launch follows the Moroccan government’s approval of the legal framework regulating 5G licenses for the three operators earlier this year, paving the way for commercial deployment.
Each operator introduced a range of offers for both individual and business customers, including prepaid and postpaid options with various data packages. For households, Inwi launched the “5G i-Box,” a high-speed home internet device optimized for gaming, remote work, and high-definition streaming.
For businesses, Inwi Business introduced 5G-powered services designed to support smart industry 4.0 solutions, such as remote maintenance, connected machinery, and digital twin models. Additionally, telemedicine is supported via its “5G Business Connect” device.
Orange Maroc described 5G as a revolution in everyday use, enabling smoother video streaming, online education, and smart healthcare. The company emphasized that the technology will boost Moroccan companies’ ability to innovate, collaborate in real time, and remotely manage industrial operations, enhancing their competitiveness both locally and globally.
All three operators highlighted that accessing 5G requires only a compatible phone and no complex procedures. Flexible packages have been designed to meet the evolving needs of individual and enterprise users.
