Political Solidarity and Development in Kenya
MPs from the Western region have pledged closer political cooperation with the Rift Valley to ensure President William Ruto secures a second term in office. This collaboration is seen as a crucial step in maintaining the momentum of development and unity across the country.
The legislators, including Lurambi MP Titus Khamala and Navakholo MP Emmanuel Wangwe, emphasized that the Luhya and Kalenjin communities share strong ties as neighbors and would stand together behind Ruto in the next election. Their support is not only based on shared cultural values but also on the tangible benefits of the president’s policies.
Khamala highlighted the impact of the president’s recent tour of the Western region, which brought significant development gains. These initiatives have strengthened local support for his re-election. He noted that residents in Kakamega are now discussing the possibility of a second term for Ruto due to the transformation achieved through various development programs.
Wangwe expressed his belief that the Rift Valley was fortunate to produce Kenya’s fifth president. He added that the Luhya community hopes to take over leadership once Ruto completes his second term. This sentiment reflects a deep sense of trust and hope in the future of the region under Ruto’s leadership.
Inter-Denominational Prayer Service and Election Campaigns
During an inter-denominational prayer service in Chepsaita, Uasin Gishu, the MPs dedicated the course for the December 6th Great Chepsaita Cross Country race. The event also served as a platform for political discussions and campaign strategies.
President Ruto’s aide and race patron, Farouk Kibet, attended the ceremony, underscoring the importance of the event in both sports and politics. The gathering provided an opportunity for local leaders to rally support for upcoming elections.
Malava UDA candidate David Ndakwa expressed confidence in winning the upcoming by-election. He argued that his rivals lacked a clear development agenda for the area. Ndakwa emphasized the need for collaboration between the government and local leaders to drive progress in Malava.
Clergy members present at the event prayed for Ndakwa, while Farouk and the MPs urged residents to vote for the UDA candidate. Ndakwa thanked Ruto, Farouk, and the MPs for their support during the campaign, expressing confidence in their teamwork leading to victory on November 27th.
Ndakwa will face eight other candidates, including Seth Panyako of DAP-K. The competition highlights the significance of the by-election in shaping the political landscape of the region.
Support for Ruto and Calls for Transparency
Farouk praised Western region leaders for their support of Ruto and his administration. He highlighted the role of leaders like Bishop Khamala and Wangwe, who have refused to align with tribalist factions and instead support Ruto. This solidarity is seen as a key factor in maintaining national unity.
He pointed out the close political relationship between Western and Rift Valley communities, describing them as good neighbors united by shared interests. This bond is essential for fostering collaboration and addressing common challenges.
In addition to political support, Farouk urged Kenyans to register with the Social Health Authority (SHA). He emphasized that SHA has the potential to address the country’s health challenges, provided it is managed transparently. Farouk cautioned against corruption and mismanagement, stressing that the people should not suffer when SHA is well-resourced to ensure quality healthcare.
He lamented the situation in some county hospitals in Uasin Gishu, where essential drugs are lacking. Farouk called on the county administration to address this issue promptly, highlighting the urgent need for improved healthcare services.
The Role of Sports and Education
Farouk also spoke about the importance of the Chepsaita Cross Country race in identifying and nurturing talent while supporting education initiatives. The event serves as a platform for young athletes to showcase their skills and gain recognition.
Khamala led residents in chanting “two terms” in support of Ruto’s re-election bid, reinforcing the collective desire for continued leadership and development. This moment encapsulates the hopes and aspirations of the community for the future.
